Konflikt og forsoning Conflict and Reconsiliation
Konflikten mellom Palestina og Israel er fastlåst, og gjennom media opplever vi den som stadig mer tilspisset. I programmet Konflikt og forsoning går vi i dybden på flere sider ved konflikten, både ved å gi rom for enkeltmenneskene som ofte forsvinner i nyhetsbildet, og ved å ta opp nye syn på situasjonen.
precious life lar oss komme tett innpå fire måneder gamle Mohammed som har en medfødt sykdom. En anonym donasjon fra en israelsk giver blir redningen for gutten og hans familie, som opplever et annet Israel enn det de hadde forventet. I israel vs israel møter vi flere israelere som hver på sin måte nyanserer det bildet som ofte tegnes av menneskene som tilhører den sterke parten i en konflikt. Regissøren bak defamation er også en israeler som går mot strømmen, som med humor som våpen tar et oppgjør med israelernes syn på seg selv som ofre. Alle disse stemmene er viktige å få frem, fordi de kan gi oss nye innfallsvinkler til konflikten, og kanskje håp om forsoning og andre løsninger.
budrus er også en film som gjør noe så sjeldent som å gi håp. Både fatah- og hamastilhengere klarer å gå sammen i omfattende ikke-voldelig motstand mot muren som skal bygges gjennom en Palestinsk landsby, og gir oss et lite vindu med utsikt mot en bedre fremtid. Muren og dens betydning for palestinernes dagligliv er også et tema for last supper: abu dis, som sammen med sixty seven er våre to kortfilmdokumetarer fra Yasser Arafat Commemorative Center, et senter som jobber for å bevare og forske på palestinsk kultur, og aktivt støtter humanitære tiltak. In the sidebar Conflict and Reconciliation we aim for an in-depth exploration of new perspectives on the conflict. We wish to give attention to the individuals that so often disappear in the news, the ones that care about others beyond the ethnic divisions or who dare speak against public opinion. Four-month-old Mohammed and his Palestinian family are touched by an unexpected compassion when they reach out for help to the Israeli community through documentary filmmaker Shlomi Eldar. Several Israelis are portrayed in israel vs israel, and in their own way they all nuance the stereotypes of Israelis. defamation is a film that challenges the collective idea the Israeli society holds on the role of anti-Semitism in the world. Director Yoav Shamir does a humorous take on how he, and other Israelis, see themselves. All these perspectives are valuable because they bring new light on an old conflict.
budrus also shows us a different solution to a typical situation on the West Bank. A village under the threat of extinction by the Israeli Separation Barrier manages to gather everyone from opposing political groups to a peaceful, nonviolent demonstration – a glimpse of hope in a rather dark reality. The Separation Barrier, and the impact it has on the everyday lives of Palestinians is also the focus of last supper: abu dis. It’s screened alongside sixty seven, and both are short documentaries from the Arafat Commemorative Center, a center that is dedicated to preserving Palestinian culture, and supports humanitarian efforts.
