related videos forms an integral part of the work carried out by the programme. Taught by staff of the programme – and a number of visiting lecturers – students make a 30 minute video as part of their final studies. In recent years, these student films have been well received locally, nationally and internationally, many being shown at international ethnographic and documentary film festivals. Reflecting the multicultural composition of the students attending the programme, films have covered both local cultures in northern Norway, societies in Europe, as well as cultures in Africa and other parts of the world.
Visual Cultural Studies, which in 2002 was given the National Prize for quality in teaching by the ministry of Higher Education and Research, is proud to present 6 student films as part of the Tromsø International Film Festival.
