Help to get the job done

Aurelia Metals has recently donated over $2,000 to the Cobar 221 Army Cadets Unit to purchase a whipper snipper, lawn mower and garden shed. Learning how to use the equipment will not only give cadets a useful life skill, but also help eliminate the cost of maintaining the barracks. An Aurelia Metals spokesperson said the company was proud to be able to support programs and organisations that nurture and develop young people in the communities in which they operate. ▪ Photo contributed

Gutters overflow in Saturday’s storm Cobar’s streets were running and gutters overflowing on Saturday afternoon after the town received a dump of 10.4mm of rain, along with some hail. This brings Cobar’s total rainfall so far this month to 52.4mm. Daytime temperatures over the past week have been varied with Wednesday recording the hottest day when the mercury climbed to a maximum of 39.4 while Thursday’s top was 28 degrees.

Friday reached 32.4 degrees before the rain on Saturday cooled things down and the thermometer dipped to 26.6 while Sunday was also mild with a top of 27.7. Tomorrow is looking to be a warm one for Australia Day celebrations with an expected top of 38, with a slight chance of showers and a possible thunderstorm in the afternoon/evening. Friday and Saturday should also be very warm with both days expected to reach maximums of 38 degrees.
