Thief to face a Cobar court

A man recently arrested for rural theft in Nyngan is to appear at Cobar Local Court next week.

Officers from the Rural Crime Prevention Team charged a man following an incident on a rural property at Miandetta near Nyngan on January 14.

Police received a report that a window of a Mitsubishi Triton had been smashed and a spotlight from the vehicle was stolen, between 2am and 12pm, while parked on a property off the Barrier Highway.

Following their investigations, Police officers attended a residence in Nyngan on January 16 and arrested a 21-year-old male over the incident.

He was taken to Nyngan Police Station and charged with enter building/land with intent commit indictable offence and larceny value <= $2000.

Rural Crime Investigators suspect there are others involved and investigations are continuing into this incident and other offences across the Central North Police District.

They are appealing to anyone with information about this crime or other rural crimes to contact the Rural Crime Prevention Team, local police or Crime Stoppers.
