There was a total of 68 nominees for Cos Australia Days awards with the winners to be announced tomorrow as part of our Australia Day celebrations at the Cobar Memorial Swimming Pool.
There was a total of 10 nominations for the Citizen of the Year award and include: Colleen Boucher, Michael Bannister, Rhonda Fry, Matthew Nicholson, Louise McKervey, Jill Weaving, Kay Stingemore and John de Bruin.
s been one of the best years for nominations for Young Citizen of the Year with Amara Bottom, Malina Bottom, Jayden Cryer, the Cobar Girl Guides, Sophie Clark and Ashley Cousins among this year’s nominees.
Nine nominations were received for the prestigious Bossie Mitchell Service to the Community award and included Emily Miller, Michael Bannister, Tracey Lawrence, Louise McKervey, Colby Lawrence, Cobar Girl Guides, the Tourism Committee, Simonne Mackay and Kay Stingemore.
Aurelia Metals has recently donated over $2,000 to the Cobar 221 Army Cadets Unit to purchase a whipper snipper, lawn mower and garden shed. Learning how to use the equipment will not only give cadets a useful life skill, but also help eliminate the cost of maintaining the barracks. An Aurelia Metals spokesperson said the company was proud to be able to support programs and organisations that nurture and develop young people in the communities in which they operate. ▪ Photo contributed
