Mother’s Day treat
Cobar Preschool Red group three year olds, Huxley Thompson, Halle Egan (and mum Zoë) and Clair Thompson (and her mum Caroline) making bracelets and necklaces at Preschool’s Mothers and Carers Activity Afternoon on Friday. The special visitors were also served a delicious afternoon tea and had their nails painted (by the kids). What a wonderful early Mother’s Day treat!

Australia’s acting Chief Medical Officer, Professor Michael Kidd, has responded to media reports about pharmacy 60-day medicine dispensing. “As a general practitioner, I am concerned about reports in the media about possible exacerbation of shortages of medicines once 60-day dispensing is implemented from 1 September 2023,” Professor Kidd said. “It is important not to create unnecessary concerns in the community about medicine shortages, especially for those people who rely on daily medications to manage their medical conditions. “Given the careful way this initiative is being rolled out in stages, and with patient safety and continuity of medicine supply being paramount, I can confirm that there is no basis for these concerns.” Professor Kidd said the Therapeutic Goods Administration closely monitors medicine shortages and facilitates the supply of alternative medicines as a priority. “Importantly, doctors will still have the choice, in consultation with their patients, to prescribe medicines in the quantity they consider safe and clinically appropriate for each individual patient’s circumstances,” he said.
Cooler days for the week ahead
After a week of warmer than average Autumn weather, the Bureau of Meteorology is predicting we’re in for cooler daytime temperatures in the week ahead. It’s expected to reach a top of 19 degrees tomorrow while only 17 is the expected top daytime temperature each day for the remainder of the week. That’s a bit cooler than the long term average of 20.2 degrees for this time of the year. All of last week’s daytime temperatures were above the average with Friday the warmest day with a top of 25.2. Saturday and Thursday were also lovely days with 23.8 and 23.7 degrees respectively recorded by the Bureau. Saturday afternoon’s unexpected shower caught a few people out but it wasn’t however enough to register in the Bureau’s rain gauge. The week ahead should be fine but partly cloudy with a slight chance of showers on Saturday and possibly some more rain on Monday.
