Junior Roosters had plenty of reasons to celebrate

Cobar Junior League had plenty of reasons to celebrate on Saturday with the club winning four games at home in Round 3 of the Dubbo & District Junior Rugby League competition.
With senior league home games also scheduled at Tom Knight Memorial Oval on Saturday, a number of the juniors games were played at rugby union’s Ailsa Fitzsimmons Memorial Oval.
The Roosters Under 11s had a big 34-6 win in their match against South Dubbo Raiders. Tommy George and Eligh Ritter ran in two tries each for Cobar with Judd Josephson, Thomas Knight and Dusty McDonald also touching down.
Judd, Thomas and Dustin Newham were responsible for two conversions each.
Their Players’ Player was Eligh while Judd received the Coaches award.
The Under 10’s were impressive in their match against the South Dubbo visitors finishing with a big 30-12 win.
Eligh Ritter led Cobar’s scoring with two tries with Alfie Toomey, Taj Goonrey and Charlie Miller also crossing for tries.
Alfie, Taj, Dusty McDonald, Austin Kane and Sonny Stephens landed conversions.
The Coaches award went to Charlie while both Taj and Alfie shared the Players’ Player honour.
The Under 12’s match was close with the Roosters holding on to finish with a 22-18 win over South Dubbo.
George McDonald (2), Charlie Nicholson, Talas Burke and Tommy George were their try scorers with George also landing a conversion.
Ella Oborn was their Players’ Player while George received the Coaches award.
In the Under 13’s match the final score was 36-10 in the Roosters’ favour.
Lachlan Brookman (3), Aiden Hyland (2), Cohan Nicholson and Rowdy Barton scored for Cobar with Rowdy (3) and Cohan (1) kicking conversions.
Lachlan walked away with the Coaches award while Aiden was named their Players’ Player.
The Roosters Under 14s lost their match 42-20 to their South Dubbo opponents.
Ryan Mugugia crossed the line twice to score and Justin Bruce and Ethan McLeod were responsible for the other two tries.
Rowdy Barton landed two conversions.
Their Players’ Player was Henry Rogers with Ryan earning the Coaches award.
The Under 16s Roosters were leading their match against South Dubbo 20-10 with 20 minutes left in the game, but three consecutive tries by the visitors, saw their lead slip away and the visitors finished with a 30-20 win.
Oisin McMullen crossed twice to score and also landed their only conversion.
Lyndan Cummins and Axel Fairfull were Cobar’s other try scorers.
The Coaches award was earned by Axel while Oisin was named Players’ Player.
In the Under 9s uncontested match, the Players’ Player award went to Nixon Small while Josh Gillette was the recipient of the Coaches award.
Nixon and Keelan Atuau scored twice while Cooper Trudgett and Billy Tiffen also crossed for tries for Cobar.
