Focus was on the championship games

The bowls focus on the Golfie greens on Sunday was all on the Championships games with a sensational Singles match and an interesting Fours game contested.

Ian Prendergast went head-to-head with Dean ‘Bogger’ McLeod in the Singles competition and, true to form, McLeod hit the green running and was up by +5 early.

Unperturbed, Prendergast soon put a stop to McLeod’s run.

Prendergast held shot for 13 consecutive ends.

Oh my goodness, talk about having the ability to draw a bowl.

Then on the 20th end when the score was 16-all, McLeod’s fightback was huge and, after playing another five ends, there was barely two points between them.

Hang on to your hats bowlers - there was more thrilling outmaneuvering to come!

Finally, on the 30th end Prendergast claimed his well deserved victory by +4 and goes through to the next round. Talk about a year of upsets in this competition.

There was however no upset in the Fours match with the experienced team of Craig
