COVID planinvoked at LBV

Cobar Shire Council has invoked a COVID management plan at its Lilliane Brady Village retirement home for the protection of its residents.

Cobar Shire Council general manager Peter Vlatko said as of yesterday nine residents (and a couple of staff members) had tested positive for COVID.

“The first case was detected mid last week,” Mr Vlatko said.

“The Village is not in lockdown, but we have taken steps to isolate any residents who have tested positive and re-assigned and replaced any affected staff members.

“All of the families of the positive residents have been informed and advised on how we are managing the situation.”

Mr Vlatko said while the Village is still permitting visitors, they are carefully screened prior to entry, are required to do a RAT test, must wear a mask at all times and maintain social distancing as well as limit their interactions with others.

“The public’s ongoing support and respect for the health and safety of our residents is appreciated,” Mr Vlatko said.

“Our first concerns are for the safety and health of our residents, many of whom could be most vulnerable to complications.”

The Makers Markets at The Pink Galah Studio on Saturday morning drew a big crowd to see what local makers had on offer (and to buy some last minute Mother’ s Day gifts). Pictured are two of the stallholders, Jessica Arnold (Jessica Lindsay Handmade) and Deanne Cain (Dee Louise designs) with browsers Stacy Tranter and Priscilla Dunne (and studio owner Seigrid Peters at rear). Seigrid said she was thrilled to be able support other local creatives by offering her studio as a venue for the markets.

NSW Health recommends that if you test positive for COVID: you should stay at home until your acute symptoms have gone; register your positive rapid antigen test result with Service NSW; wear a mask indoors if you must leave home; avoid large gatherings and indoor crowded places; and don’t visit people at higher risk of severe illness.
