Just one goal the difference in match of the round

Three games went ahead in the Cobar Netball Association senior competition on Sunday with JKM Dynamic Fitness and Pink Galahs playing the match of the round.

Both teams went goal for goal in the first half with the scores locked at 8-all at the first break and 16-all at half time.

Pink Galahs took the ascendancy in the third quarter and led by three points but they lost it in the final quarter when JKM fought back to finish with a one point win, 33-32.

The game’s Best & Fairest points were shared by Elizabeth Curtis (Pink Galahs), Sarah Nicholson (JKM) and Ally Fellows (Pink Galahs).

Divas got off to a good start in their Round 3 match on Sunday and stayed out in front to beat Nymagee Magpies in a high scoring match, 46-37.

Diva’s Jennifer Shepherd (3 points) and Magpies players Brianna Watson (2) and Georgia Boland (1) shared in the game’s B&F points.

Shepherd also collected the Sportsmanship award along with Mollie McAndrew (Magpies).

Pumpettes’ years of experience showed in their match up against new team, Tooth Fairies (who only had six players available to play), with Pumpettes finishing with a big 65-13 win.

The Sportsmanship award was shared by Roslyn Lancaster (Tooth Fairies) and Simone Neyland (Pumpettes).

Lancaster also picked up three B&F points with Pumpettes’ Kelly Fairbank earning two points and one point went to Bridgette Negfeldt (Tooth Fairies).

After three rounds, Divas are out on top with Nymagee Magpies holding down second place ahead of Pink Galahs.

In 4th place are Pumpettes with JKM 5th and Tooth Fairies are 6th.

Roosters ruffle the Magpies’feathers

The Cobar Roosters more than ruffled the feathers of the visiting Baradine Magpies in their Christie & Hood Castlereagh Rugby League First Grade match on Saturday with the Roosters finishing strongly to record a 26-12 win.

Playing out on the left wing for the Roosters, Tyler Coughlan had the honour of opening (and also closing) the scoring in Saturday’s win.

Soon after Coughlan crossed Baradine hit back with a converted try and at 6-4, it was the only time they would lead in the match.

With tries also to their No 2, Jack Brown and fullback, Ash Davies, the Roosters’ pacey backline scored the majority of their points (apart from one try scored by their punishing forward, Zane Taylor).

The Roosters controlled the second half of the match and went on to convert their narrow 10-6 lead into a convincing 26-12 victory.

Thomas Plater landed three out of five conversions, one of which was a sensational sideline kick, to add the extra six points to the Roosters’s tally.

The Castlereagh match of the round will be played this Saturday in Cobar, when the Roosters will be involved in another “Feathery Fight”, when they host the Dunedoo Swans.
