AVIATION SECURITY RECRUITMENT DRIVE AT GLASGOW AIRPORT

SOUTHAMPTON AIRPORT H&S AWARDS

Many congratulations to Ryan Owen and Jo Carroll who both won Health and Safety awards from Southampton Airport recently. Ryan stopped a security breach: a gentleman trying to access central search without a boarding card. This happened several times.

Jo was rewarded for advising that the barriers for queuing were not safe. A child had been injured at a retail outlet.

Helen Blacklaw, Station Manager wrote, “Glasgow Airport hosted its biggest-ever jobs fair on 19 January, offering a wide range of job opportunities. Over 35 employers based across the airport's campus and beyond took part in the event, which was held on the first floor of the main terminal. More than 1,100 jobseekers visited throughout the day to find out more about the employment opportunities on offer. Recruitment teams from a diverse range of airportbased or associated partner companies including air traffic providers, ground handlers, facilities management and catering specialists.

As the security specialist on site, we too had our very own stand and, on the day, there was an immense amount of interest, especially as we are currently recruiting for our very busy spring and summer seasons. It was a great success and since the event, we have received numerous application forms and on the back of this, several interviews have already taken place. It was a great way to showcase what job opportunities Glasgow Airport and the wider community have to offer.”
