SOUTHAMPTON AIRPORT H&S AWARDS

Many congratulations to Ryan Owen and Jo Carroll who both won Health and Safety awards from Southampton Airport recently.

Ryan stopped a security breach: a gentleman trying to access central search without a boarding card. This happened several times.

Jo was rewarded for advising that the barriers for queuing were not safe. A child had been injured at a retail outlet.

As the security specialist on site, we too had our very own stand and, on the day, there was an immense amount of interest, especially as we are currently recruiting for our very busy spring and summer seasons. It was a great success and since the event, we have received numerous application forms and on the back of this, several interviews have already taken place. It was a great way to showcase what job opportunities Glasgow Airport and the wider community have to offer.”

TRAINING NEWS REPORTED BY SARINA REUBEN (TRAINING AND COMPLIANCE MANAGER)

It has been a busy few months for the Aviation Division with ongoing recruitment and training. A few courses have taken place to upskill staff and progress them through the ranks as the needs of the business are growing.

Ground Security Supervisor Course – LHR (8-11 November 2022)

I delivered a supervisor course at LHR for new Supervisors. The course was delivered over 4 days and covered the role of the supervisor, regulatory requirements, compliance and standards.

The Supervisors all passed with flying colours and since have completed their on-job-training and are fully qualified to supervise their teams at Heathrow.

Congratulations on your new role with ICTS.

PQCT Auditor’s Course – Sheraton Heathrow (15-17 November 2022)

The Internal Auditors course, facilitated by Enno Geissler from PQCT Europe and Sarina Reuben, UK & Ireland Training and Compliance manager, hosted participants from ICTS UK only, in response to a strong demand generated by the recent start of passenger screening activities of ICTS UK at London LHR airport. The professional background of the participants was essentially in airport and airline security. Most were long-standing and experienced staff, and all displayed enthusiasm and a keen interest in the subject matter.

Only a few participants had prior experience as auditors. The scope of the participants’ future activities will essentially encompass compliance monitoring and conducting self-assessments in the context of ICTS UK’s SAAF program. The course was aimed at giving the participants the necessary awareness and a solid basis in the matters of compliance monitoring, quality management and verification techniques. The course programme allowed room for the discussion of topics relevant to the activities carried out by the participants.

Congratulations to all on successfully passing the

The new managers started their careers as security officers and progressed through the ranks with the company. I’d like to take the opportunity to wish them all the best with their new role.

News From Aberdeen Airport

Ryan Collins, Operations Manager at Aberdeen Airport wrote, “ICTS Security Officers at Aberdeen Airport recently discovered a passenger carrying items in their carry-on luggage which was suspected to contain Ivory. This was reported to UKBF who seized the items and sent them away for analysis. The items were found to contain ivory and the passenger was dealt with by the relevant authorities.

Following on from this, UKBF approached our team and Police Scotland’s Wildlife Crime Unit to deliver a CITES Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Flora and Fauna presentation to the staff that may be involved in this for further awareness.”
