A MESSAGE FROM THE MD, ANDY KYNOCH
Schools are back and memories of summer holidays are beginning to
Since the commencement of our initial contracts way back in 1987 at Gatwick, our aviation business in the UK and Ireland has steadily grown, with the exception being the dip caused by the pandemic some four years ago. But since 2021/2 there has been a rebound, and what a rebound! Summer 2024 has proven to be our busiest summer ever, not just in our region but also across our subsidiaries throughout Europe and North America.
So, I want to open with a heartfelt thanks to all our aviation staff, from Shannon and Dublin in Ireland, to Aberdeen, Glasgow and Edinburgh in Scotland and then Manchester, Bristol, Southampton, Heathrow and finally, where it all started over 37 years ago, Gatwick.
I am so proud of you all and what we have all achieved together in recent years.
For those of you who are knowledgeable about aircraft, some of the airlines are about to take delivery of the Airbus A321XLR, (XLR stands for ‘extra-long range’), which in my opinion will open even more routes from the United States to less conventional destinations in Europe.
Our company of course is not all aviation, whilst its roots are embedded in that industry it has branched out and continues to win contracts and awards. We welcomed the opportunity to serve Vantage Data Centers adding them to the growing list of clients within that arena.
We have retained important contracts too, such as Eighty Strand in London which is a prestigious corporate client.
Within these pages are many great stories of our colleagues and their achievements, our continued success in the field, which for me comes back to how we are as a company, a humble hardworking and trustworthy company that exudes knowledge and innovation for our customers.
Which brings me back to where it all started in 1987 and two employees who started at Gatwick and have recently passed their 35th year with the company and who I have known for all that time, firstly as a client and then secondly as a colleague. Thank you Hilary Curtis and Donald Hewitt for your service and commitment to the success of ICTS. Outstanding!
That’s all for now but as usual I’ll end with, take good care, stay safe and keep warm!
- Andy.

ENGAGEMENT UPDATE - WELLBEING INITIATIVES
The following is an overview of recent activity around our National Awareness Day campaigns:
SEPTEMBER
ICTS is delighted to partner with a new charity, Orchid Cancer - the UK’s leading male cancer charity. It is a small yet mighty charity reaching many underserved communities to educate and support those affected by cancer.
Every year, over 55,000 people will be diagnosed with testicular, penile, or prostate cancer.
Orchid Male Cancer Awareness Week runs between 16 and 19 September 2024 it offers us the opportunity to highlight the valuable work the charity does:
• Educate men about signs, symptoms, and risk factors of the three male cancers to encourage early diagnoses that will increase treatment options, survival, and quality of life. Our focus is on reaching people from marginalised communities and those not able to prioritise their health.
• Help those diagnosed better understand their situation, feel less isolated and better able to cope.
• Fund pioneering scientific research to benefit current and future generations of men.

ICTS WORK EXPERIENCE PROGRAMME
Our Work Experience Programme, introduced earlier this year, is going from strength to strength. It is an ongoing initiative aimed at providing young people with valuable insights into the field of Aviation Security and to promote career opportunities within our sector. To date, students from Heston Community School in Hounslow have participated in the scheme.
The programme spans five weeks, during which participants engage in both operational and back-office tasks. These activities are primarily based at our ICTS offices at Stockley Park (near London Heathrow Airport), with site visits to the Airport. This gives the students a chance to see our operational airport, airline and cargo security teams ‘in action’ and to enhance the overall learning experience.
The feedback received about the Programme has really been positive.
An extract from an email sent by a student to our Service Delivery Manager, Ghouse Mohammed:
“I just want to express my sincere gratitude to you and your team for granting me the incredible opportunity to work at ICTS. The past four weeks have been an enriching journey, allowing me to immerse myself in the company’s unique culture, connect with amazing individuals and partake in memorable events (going to Heathrow). This experience has left a lasting impact on me, both personally and professionally.
We thank the ICTS Management Team and Shaike ICTS Europe) for supporting
The values upheld at ICTS resonate deeply with me, and I am eager to continue my journey in an environment that shares such principles. I believe that being a part of this extraordinary experience has not only elevated my skills but also motivated me to grow as an individual.
Once again, thank you for the opportunity and support throughout my time at ICTS. I am genuinely grateful for the memories and experiences that will stay with me forever.”

NEW BUSINESS
NEW DATA CENTRE CONTRACT IN WALES
“We are very pleased that Vantage Data Centers selected ICTS UK as their security partner. We are looking forward to a long-term great collaboration.
Just one hundred miles from London’s urban density and located in the UK’s tech corridor, the Newport/ Cardiff campus will include three data centres once fully developed, two of which are now operational. The campus is considered to be one of Europe’s largest data centre campuses to meet customer demand from around the world.
Sited near the M4 and major airports, the campus is easily accessible by air, rail and car about 40 minutes from Bristol. The secure site meets the UK Government’s highest standards and is just one of the many reasons that multiple blue-chip, high-growth companies currently house their IT infrastructure in one of the UK’s most efficient data centres” said Alex Ursan, Regional Manager Corporate Security, ICTS UK.

EIGHTY STRAND RE-APPOINTS ICTS AS THEIR SECURITY PARTNER
ICTS is delighted to announce that we have been reawarded the security services contract for Eighty Strand, an iconic corporate workspace in Covent Garden Riverside (London). Since September 2019, our Team has been providing 24/7 security services to this prestigious location. The new contract also includes loading bay services. We look forward to continuing our partnership with Eighty Strand.
“Eighty Strand is a prestigious corporate building with high profile companies occupying various floors. The working atmosphere is very serene with modern facilities installed after the building went through refurbishment not long ago. The client/landlord is highly appreciative of the input of the Security team to the extent that the team is considered part of them as opposed to ICTS employees (something that the Building Manager mentions when she meets our ICTS Management team). It is a lovely place to work and our multicultural team looks after each other.
Our Security team continually conducts risk assessments and briefings to assess the security processes and procedures based on current local and global threat levels.
Random reviews and inspections are conducted via external parties to ensure a wider outlook on procedures taking place of which further assessments are made based on advised risks identified and are immediately addressed.
Security staff constantly undergo training evaluations to ensure all aspects of their roles are up to date with current local and global threat levels are taken into consideration.
The Security team at Eighty Strand is happy to have worked hard to ensure ICTS retained the Security contract as well as the additional loading bay services. We thank the ICTS Management team for their support in ensuring that staff welfare needs are attended to as and when needed” wrote Tom Shaw, ICTS Contract Manager (Eighty Strand).

INTRODUCING OUR CANINE TRAINER: TONY BRYSON
I joined the Army in 1994 and began working with military dogs in the RAVC, starting with GP dogs and then training police dogs for the RAF and other military organisations. I was later selected as an instructor, training dog handlers and running decoy courses. This resulted in me being posted to Germany and then Cyprus, where I helped develop a new search dog for counter-IED operations in Afghanistan. Following this, I was deployed as a High Assurance Search Dog (HASD) handler and eventually led the training and deployment of HASD teams, managing 22 handlers and dogs in Afghanistan. After 22 years of service, I retired from the military.
After leaving the Army, I started a doggy daycare and training facility, which closed due to COVID. I then worked as a live body detection handler in France and volunteered as a search and rescue dog trainer in Lincolnshire. I was a project manager and trainer for mine detection dogs in Azerbaijan and later trained EDD and NDD handlers in Bangladesh for the Dhaka Police and US Embassy.
In February, I joined ICTS, where I'm responsible for training, procurement, and continuation training for Explosive Detection Dogs, as well as managing training for General Purpose Patrol Dogs and their handlers.

VOLUNTEER YOUR TIME TO SUPPORT OUR CANINE TRAINING PROGRAMME
Kno Fridye, Marketing Executive Apprentice writes about his experience volunteering with the Canine Team“On 16 July I met with three other volunteers, (members of the Canine Team) and Charlotte Smith, Drug Detection Dog Manager at Canary Wharf in London.
Throughout the day, we participated in various training tasks. In the Canary Wharf shopping centre, volunteers were given small amounts of pyrotechnics and the dogs and their handlers then patrolled the area to locate those individuals with contraband. At an escalator, dogs and handlers waited at the top while volunteers, mixed with the general public, rode up to see if the dogs could locate individuals at a few seconds’ notice.
In a busy hallway, volunteers mixed with the crowd to see if the dogs could identify them as they walked through. Lastly, during an outdoor patrol at Canary Wharf Plaza, dogs and handlers searched for volunteers in the large, busy outdoor area.
The highlight of my day was the warm welcome from the team, which made me feel like a long-time staff member.
This volunteer day highlighted the skills of ICTS’ Canine Detection Dog teams.”
The Canine team is always looking for volunteers to participate in their training days. If interested, please contact Charlotte Smith

Data Centre Camera re-locations - This job utilised a Pelco VideoXpert Video Management System (VMS) platform, a customisable, software-based solution with an intuitive user experience.
The system empowers security professionals to effortlessly access the footage they need, precisely when they need it. It provides a scalable solution ranging from entry-level surveillance set-ups to systems that support tens of thousands of cameras across multiple continents.
Security and safety of staff, patients and visitors is high priority across NHS sites, and ASM is proud to be able to provide high quality installations and leading security solutions to our NHS partners. Recently, we installed a number of Hikvision CCTV cameras at the premises of one of our long-standing NHS clients (see photos below). Access Control systems were installed at the estates/delivery entrances, to help monitor those entering/leaving the premises. This included a Paxton Access Ltd Net2 additional door to a new entry location for the estates team.
ASM has trusted Texecom products for a wide range of projects and installations and most recently, Texecom products were selected for an educational institution.

I joined ICTS in 2019.

If you were not an IT specialist, what type of career would you choose?
Many years ago I considered a career in Motor Vehicle Engineering. I think I made the right choice, mechanic bays on cold winter days aren’t much fun!
EMPLOYEE LONG SERVICE AWARDS
Thank you to the following members of staff for their commitment and loyalty to the organization:
35 YEARS’ SERVICE
Hilary
Curtis (Standards & Compliance Manager)
A long time ago at an airport in a galaxy far, far away…
a young woman was taking her friend to attend an interview because her friend’s car had mysteriously broken down. s the story of how my journey with ICTS started!
I had agreed to attend the training with her just to keep her company - little did I know that it would take me on a path of such diverse experiences with opportunities to work alongside so many inspiring people. What’s more they all had their great stories to tell (and always over a coffee) of their time in the aviation and security universe.
The ‘hook’ for me was that every day was different. The fluidity of such a constantly changing and challenging environment was a little bit of an adrenaline rush. You found yourself having to ‘think on your feet’ and problem-solve.
Our goal was simply to ensure full compliance with the global ‘aviation regulations’ for our many business partners and clients that we worked for.
A common thread running through the ‘veins’ of all the teams, I either had the pleasure of managing or working with, was that we were more like a family. I think this is the ethos of ICTS. What sets us apart is that our growth has truly been rooted in the strength of our people.
I started as a part-time Security Agent and ICTS gave me the opportunity to explore other roles within the business: operational management, human resources and standards and compliance management. ICTS has given me the opportunity to develop myself and to develop my career within this very interesting and sometimes strange industry we all work in.
I have always been passionate about our people, as I believe they are the key to our success. I am also very grateful that I’ve been fortunate to be a small part of that continuing and successful ICTS story.
I look back and often wonder the reason the car broke down that day. Was it some sort of hidden universal force or was it because it had run out of petrol? I’ll probably never really know but I am glad that it did!”
Hilary.
“I have crossed paths with some fine people as colleagues and customers over the 35 years of my service with ICTS. Thanks a million to all those who made a posi-

Ponniah Muraleetharan (London Gatwick Airport)
“Ponniah Muraleetharan, aka Muralee, joined ICTS Gatwick in 2004, as an aircraft guarding officer for the US Airways contract. In December 2005, Muralee made the move from the aircraft ramp to the Hold Baggage Screening department to add another string to his bow.
Throughout the years, Muralee has been instrumental in his support in on-job-training for many new recruits joining the HBS family. We wish him many more successful years in our ICTS operations.”
Itai Sher (Global Financial Institution)
“My first job in the UK was with ICTS, where I was interviewed by Shai Meirav for the position of Strategic Contract Manager at the Royal Berkshire and Battle Hospitals in Reading. This occurred just two weeks after my family and I had relocated to the UK. I vividly remember the nervousness I felt while drinking coffee in the café next to Tavistock House, waiting for my interview. Following an interview with the client, I was fortunate to secure the position.
on these years, I take pride in the collective achievements and look forward to future challenges with the same enthusiasm and commitment.”
From that point onward, it was a continuous learning process. I had the privilege of being exposed to, managing, and overseeing numerous contracts, including those with Amazon, Eurotunnel, Middlesex University, Southbank University, Thames Valley University, City of Westminster College, Ealing, Hammersmith & West London College, the CAA, Luton Hospital, Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust, Heathrow Express, First Great Western, and several others, some of which I cannot disclose but am very proud to have been a part of.
I was also fortunate to be part of the training team, particularly with the CMI and Project Griffin. This opportunity allowed me to meet many managers and hopefully contribute to their development and prospects. Throughout my career with ICTS, I have met great people, clients, managers, leaders, and staff. I have had numerous experiences that have enabled me to grow and support others. I was placed in a position where I could influence people’s lives, and I hope I did so positively.
Since March 2019, I have been assigned to a prestigious contract in the financial industry as a Global Account Manager. I have a great team, a supportive client, and backing from my Line Managers, ICTS Europe, particularly Boaz Derhy, Shai Meirav, and other managers in our subsidiaries.
Supporting our client in EMEA (Europe, the Middle East, and Africa) has allowed me to collaborate with our managers in other subsidiaries and partners across the region. Throughout my years with ICTS, I have held various roles, witnessed the company’s evolution, and seen managers come and go. ICTS has transformed, taking on different forms, structures, and directions. It has been a remarkable journey.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the people I have worked with. I look forward to further growth and progress.”

This scheme goes a small way to say thank you and recognises all those very important customer service interventions by many of our employees.
Employees are asked to email a copy of the feedback to our HR Team—hr@icts.co.uk.

EMPLOYEE OF THE 2nd QUARTER
FROM OUR CANINE SECURITY:
JASON KIRBY
Congratulations to Jason Kirby from the Canine Security Department for being named our Employee of the Quarter. Jason earned this recognition for his exemplary handling of three significant incidents in recent months.
While on duty at Canary Wharf, Jason's vigilance led to the discovery of hidden items that were likely intended for criminal damage against an estate tenant. Although the exact purpose of these items remains unclear, we are grateful for Jason's timely intervention.
In another instance, while stationed at an EDF site, Jason provided crucial support during a challenging situation where two individuals suffered heart attacks simultaneously. His actions were highly praised by our client.
Additionally, while on break at Canary Wharf, Jason witnessed a woman being threatened with a syringe. Without hesitation, he intervened to protect her and promptly called for assistance from the wider security team.
Jason's dedication and quick thinking have made a significant impact, and we are proud to honour him as our Employee of the Quarter.
Winner(s) of the Employee of the Quarter award will receive £/€500 (net) bonus and a lapel pin.

RUNNING 30K TO MARK 30-YEARS OF THE PITUITARY FOUNDATION
Ruth Harper, who is a member of our Bristol Airport Security Team writes, “I have been running in support of the Pituitary Foundation, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. The Foundation has asked its members to take on challenges to mark their 30 years.
I decided to get back into running more regularly as it is my 5-year anniversary in May of being diagnosed with Idiopathic Cranial Diabetes Insipidus. Now been changed to Arginine Vassopressin Deficiency (AVP-D) to avoid the confusion of the word ‘diabetes’. Basically I don’t regulate my water levels in my body so take a synthetic hormone to replace it. So I can drink up to 10 -15+ litres of fluid within a day and go to the toilet more often. The synthetic hormone means I can regulate my fluid levels better so I drink around 4-6 litres of fluid in a day instead. I had never heard of the charity before let alone the pituitary gland that is in our brain. But now I’m an advocate for the charity and raise awareness and attend charity events at least once a year to raise funds and spread awareness of the amazing work the charity does.
Please visit Ruth’s JustGiving page to support her fundraising challenge.

TEAM ICTS REGENERATES THE GARDEN OF A WOMEN'S SHELTER
Members of our Aviation Security team spent the day volunteering their gardening skills at a local women’s shelter on 26 June 2024. The shelter, located near London Heathrow Airport and run by Trinity, provides vital services to women suffering from abuse, homelessness and poor mental health.
“The garden was very overgrown and with our assistance, by the end of the day the area had been transformed. We all pitched in – members of our management and operational teams and even two students currently participating in our work experience programme” said Priti Kamal, Recruitment & Vetting Manager, London Heathrow Airport.
Making a difference in the local community in which we operate is important to us as an organisation and drives our CSR strategy.
