A MESSAGE FROM THE MD, ANDY KYNOCH
It is an absolute privilege to again be closing the year with a message to you, the family that I am so proud of.
You have yet again proven to be the best in delivering service and performance to our clients enabling us to win more contracts and retain others in both fields of aviation and corporate.
We have won contracts at Gatwick and Heathrow, won yet another data centre contract and overseen the successful implementation of the new C3 security technology in partnership with our clients at Bristol and Aberdeen Airports. Ireland continues to flourish too in a number of areas.
Read in these pages that in a list of top 100 security companies in the UK we attained 7th position in terms of revenue. That is an excellent and very respectable position in the table amongst some significant and respected competitors.
This year our parent company Groupe Sofinord reached a milestone of its own, celebrating 50 years in business. Congratulations are in order to Patrick Thelot and his family.
We have much to look forward to in 2025 with continued growth in both sectors of our business. The country is expecting its busiest year ever in flights from the UK and we will be a part of that.
With that said, I would like to wholeheartedly thank you all for your hard work in 2024 and I look forward to another great year, one in which we can all aspire to the 6th place in the list of 100 companies, which is within reach. Let’s do it!
Season’s Greetings to you and your loved ones, and I wish you all a very Happy New Year.
As usual, I will end with take care and stay safe
- Andy.

HR & COMPLIANCE
BUSINESS CONTINUITY PLANNING IS KEY
Brian O’Shaughnessy, Business Assurance Manager writes, Recently at Shannon airport during an audit I was asked about the importance of both our scenario and tabletop exercises for Business Continuity and this conversation highlighted some key insights into the true essence of BCP, which centres on more than just having a formal plan in place it’s about cultivating the capability to respond effectively to disruptions.
Business Continuity Planning (BCP) is a critical component in ensuring that ICTS can withstand disruptions and continue operating effectively. At its core, business continuity is not about creating a plan for the sake of ticking a box. A well-written plan is valuable, but it represents just one piece of the broader strategy. The true focus of our BCP is on designing practical, actionable solutions that can be implemented when disruptions occur. This means making those solutions operational and ensuring that teams have the training and rehearsal necessary to execute them under pressure.
Having solutions that are both planned and rehearsed is essential. Without this preparation, we would be forced to rely on crisis management techniques in the heat of the moment, which is a reactive approach. While crisis management can be effective in handling unforeseen challenges, it is not a substitute for the proactive, structured responses that business continuity planning can provide. A well-designed BC strategy mitigates risks and minimises the impact of disruptions, ensuring that we remain resilient in the face of unexpected events.
Moreover, it is important to emphasise the positive outcomes of effective business continuity planning. Rather than getting bogged down in endless debates about the process or documentation, we focus on the benefits: enhanced preparedness, minimised downtime, and sustained operations during crises. In a world governed by standards and expectations, demonstrating a solid capability to withstand disruptions is increasingly necessary. Our well-managed BC system provides the framework to prove our readiness and resilience.
In short, business continuity is not just about the existence of a plan. It is about building a responsive and resilient organisation, equipped to handle challenges with a proactive, structured approach. By focusing on operational solutions and preparation, we can better navigate disruptions and safeguard our long-term success.

WELL DONE KEVIN CONNELL AND LIZ WHELAN FROM DUBLIN AIRPORT
Lauren Matthews Check-In Supervisor, writes: “On 26 November, Kevin Connell and Liz Whelan were conducting BDO (Behavioural Detection Officer) at the United check-in when Kevin observed a passenger behaving suspiciously. Keeping a close watch, Kevin noticed the individual spending an unusually long time in the bathroom. Acting on his instincts, Kevin approached a DAA staff member stationed near the bathrooms, who confirmed that the man had not exited the cubicle.
Kevin and the DAA staff knocked on the cubicle door but received no response. Recognising the urgency of the situation, Kevin alerted Liz Whelan, who promptly contacted Airport Police. The police gained access to the cubicle and discovered that the man had overdosed. Thanks to Kevin's exceptional active observation during BDO and his seamless teamwork with Liz, the situation was addressed swiftly, potentially saving the man’s life.
This is a remarkable demonstration of the BDO process, showcasing the effective application of behaviour detection techniques, active observation, and the ability to react decisively to an unusual situation at checkin. Kevin and Liz's vigilance and proactive response exemplify the highest standards of security and professionalism at the ICTS Ireland.
I am thrilled to share the positive feedback received from both the Airline and Airport Police regarding this incident. As the BDO Supervisor, I am immensely proud of Kevin and Liz for their outstanding work!

WELCOMING
NEW STAFF
GLENN
TURNER - BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT
MANAGER
I started my career as an electrical apprentice at 17 before moving over to the electronic security sector, working for one of the largest service providers.
I have worked in the security industry for 25 years, in various roles from installer to service engineer, before moving into project management during the 2012
UK Olympics. My first major project was the Poly clinic in the athlete s village. I next became a service operations manager for an independent security provider, before moving into sales.
I have been employed by ASM as a Business Development Manager since April and have been finding great solutions to our clients’ needs. The years of engineering and operation management experience have given me a unique ability to find and resolve my clients’ problems, making my time as a Business Development Manager very productive.
KATIE SCHOLFIELD (HRIS MANAGER PAYROLL)
I actually have a degree in fashion design but worked in a few different fields including surveying and plant hire before settling into payroll. Whilst at CH&Co I moved from Payroll Supervisor to iTrent Systems Officer where I learnt to manage the system and the projects that go along with it.
HR & Payroll Systems Manager – My role is essentially looking after all things iTrent. I am currently working on the ongoing implementation process, looking after day-to-day maintenance and also fixing any issues as and when they arise.

CREE WILLIAMS-ANTOINE (HR ADVISOR CORPORATE)
“Hi Everyone, Newly appointed into the business as HR Advisor for the Corporate Division, joined in October 2024. I’ve been in the world of HR for just short of a decade, very fortunate to have worked in a range of dynamic sectors such as Healthcare, Sports, Betting & Gaming, Education, Facilities Management and now Security! The role so far has been great, I’m learning a lot, meeting wonderful people!, and really excited to contribute towards ICTS’ ambitions.
Those in HR know “no 2 days are the same”. A day in the life could be anything from engaging with stakeholders on operational objectives, developing and delivering initiatives, enhancing employee experience and a lot more!
When I’m not working, I’m a family man at heart, spending time with my children and making memories. Additionally, I like to have the occasional 5K run and get my fair dosage of the weekend football.”

LOUISE CAMERON
DANIEL HARDGRAVE
I initially joined ICTS in 2007, as Senior Employee Relations Officer. In 2011, I became HR Manager. I left the business in 2015 and rejoined in 2023 as Head of HR.
I love the people at ICTS, and the culture of our business is really special. I find the industry fascinating, and all the different disciplines we cover within the sector gives me the opportunity to consistently find different ways of doing things. My job itself can be challenging, but also very rewarding and extremely varied. ICTS is a people business, and so the HR team are involved in pretty much every business activity in some way; whether it’s supporting with bids and tenders, transitioning people into the company via TUPE, translating data – like the employee survey or retention information - into improvement action plans, interpreting new legislation to make sure we’re doing the right thing by our people, working with my colleagues in Operations to support ICTS in maintaining our position as the best in the business I could go on! I am very fortunate to be able to say that I absolutely love my job.
What key attributes make someone successful in your role?
Any good HR person needs good judgement, common sense, curiosity, resilience, a strong moral compass, and the ability to take complex issues and simplify them. To succeed in ICTS, a good HR person needs all of these things firing on all cylinders in multiple different directions at the same time and at breakneck speed!
What is your favourite pastime?
Cooking, specifically cooking for other people. At the moment it’s all about Autumnal stews and comfort food, but as soon as the sun comes out it will be BBQs and salads and home-made lemonade. I tend to go a bit extra around Christmas on the food front, inviting friends and family over for meals that I will have spent weeks planning and multiple days preparing (much to the frustration of my boyfriend who gets roped in to help, largely against his will). I’m very enthusiastic but not very efficient - everything takes me ten times as long as it should - so you won’t be seeing me on Masterchef anytime soon.
What has been your greatest achievement?
I’m very proud of my involvement with the careers of others. Helping someone else develop, watching them become more confident, seeing them succeed and knowing you’ve had a positive impact on them long term gives me a warm fuzzy feeling inside.
If you were not an HR specialist, what type of career would you choose?
I’d probably choose to be an HR specialist, to be honest. But if I had to do something different, it would either be travel, animal or Formula One related. Maybe I could be Lewis Hamilton’s dog’s travel chaperone to all the races around the world!
EMPLOYEE LONG SERVICE AWARDS
Thank you to the following members of staff for their commitment and loyalty to the organization:
25 YEARS’ SERVICE
Chris
“I started at ICTS way back in 1999 as a Support Manager for a long defunct product called APS ( Advanced Passenger Screening ) which was a very, very basic version of what is now APM Flex. I saw one of these units when I was in ICTS’ office in Madrid recently and was shocked at how clunky and basic they were.
A lot of things have changed in 25 years in IT and in ICTS, I joined just before the panic of Y2K and I still have a fear of things failing for no reason. Everything evolves so quickly in IT and ICTS has to work hard to embrace change and keep up. The work that IES have done to aid our Aviation operations is fantastic and we as an IT department strive to bring as many innovations as we can to the business to make sure we don’t get left behind.
Luckily, I have an excellent team supporting me and I’m proud to still be working with people in all departments of ICTS (UK and Worldwide) that I have known since I started. I’ll hopefully be retired in another 25 years but I’m sure ICTS will still be going strong.”
20 YEARS’ SERVICE
Nilesh
Devchand (London Heathrow Airport)
"I have immensely enjoyed working with ICTS for the last 20 years! I started off as a Security Agent in 2004, working on the American Airlines contract. American was my primary working location, however, I had the opportunity to assist on several other contracts; some of them including Air Mauritius, Sri Lankan Airlines, Virgin Atlantic, EOS, and Kenya Airways. I also had the opportunity to work at other airports; Gatwick, Stansted, and Bristol. I was also fortunate enough to be involved in the DART Project at Luton Airport.
When the COVID pandemic hit, I was relocated to work on the Amazon Project as an acting Supervisor which I thoroughly enjoyed, as it has given me experience in a different field. After the pandemic, I was relocated again, this time to Terminal 2 on the United Airlines contract where I accepted the position of Security Supervisor. To develop my knowledge and skills further, I also held the position of Operations Controller. I thoroughly enjoy my job at ICTS as each day brings a new challenge. I work with such an amazing team, and I'm well supported by my fellow colleagues, duty managers, controllers, and trainer. I hope to continue my service with ICTS and look forward to more opportunities."
Zafar Iqbal (London Heathrow Airport)
It feels like just yesterday that I began my journey at ICTS, and here I am, celebrating twenty incredible years. Working here has been a truly rewarding experience, filled with both personal and professional growth. I’m grateful for the friendships I’ve built and the opportunities I’ve had to learn, contribute, and grow alongside such talented colleagues.
Cox (Head of IT)
Sharon McDermott (Manchester Airport)
Alan Richardson, Station Manager at Manchester, writes, “Sharon started some 5 months before me, and she says the Station was very busy.
She remembers jobs at the time were very varied with our contracts all over the airport.
She enjoyed supporting ICTS at Liverpool when they had issues there, and also our Xmas flights for Jet2.com where we supported the airline at Leeds/ Bradford, Newcastle, and East Midlands. She has really enjoyed meeting such a wide range of staff, and still keeps in touch with several who have retired or left the company.
Fiona McElroy (Director ICTS Ireland)
Twenty years ago, I started a journey that would shape my professional and personal life in ways I could never have imagined. Joining ICTS marked the beginning of a chapter filled with opportunities, challenges and countless memories. Now, reflecting on this significant milestone, I feel immense gratitude and pride.
Having started at Dublin Airport as a teen, I quickly realised that it wasn’t just a workplace, but a community of passionate, driven individuals who over the years have become part of my ‘chosen’ family.
Roberta Puccinelli Sher (Marketing Manager)
I have the privilege of writing about our success stories –getting to know the individuals who make up the very fabric of ICTS UK & Ireland. I still work closely with many who I have known since the start of my career with ICTS when I was part of the Unique smart card project for students.
I value the open, dynamic and international culture that is ICTS.
I shall always be extremely grateful to ICTS for giving me the opportunity to bring up our family alongside a rewarding career.
I am very proud to join the many who have marked long service with our Company and I look forward to many more ICTS success stories.”
I have had the privilege of evolving alongside the Company and one of the most rewarding aspects of my time here has been the people. The colleagues who have become friends, the mentors who have provided guidance and the leaders who have inspired, have all played a crucial role in my journey. Their support and collaboration have made my time with ICTS so fulfilling.
I am excited about what lies ahead, in particular for ICTS Ireland and am committed to continuing to contribute to our shared success, embracing new challenges and mentoring the next generation just as others have done for me!”

Quarter.
Daniel has been highly commended by the client for his observation and quick wits for an incident that could have severely impacted the site if left unchecked. He identified and immediately reported an oil leak from the one of the chillers.
Haroon stopped a potentially dangerous situation when he noticed several contractors who were working on a platform that appeared unsafe whilst he was patrolling site. He took responsibility for the contractors, explaining that the platform was unstable and appeared to be rocking badly. Haroon then further flagged the concern to the facilities management team, who identified that working at that height was identified as a risk. Haroon’s actions saved an incident from occurring which could have potentially caused serious injury.

“Thanks for the surprise presentation this evening. I am out of words. I know we offer a professional service and to carry our duty as expected by the company. To get recognised for going above and beyond it's overwhelming. I have been working at this site (London 1) from 2015 and tonight is the happiest moment. Thanks to the team and the entire management team. I am very grateful.”

CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
ICTS UK & IRELAND SPONSORS HEMEL HEMPSTEAD TOWN YOUTH FC
ICTS is delighted to sponsor the Hemel Hempstead Town Youth FC U14s team. We are proud to support these young athletes as they develop their football skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
Robert Ellis, a member of our Corporate Recruitment Team and the Team’s coach commented, “Much like ICTS, our boys have a clear structure with a strong emphasis on teamwork to be successful. We are very honoured that ICTS have sponsored us this season and we hope to be as successful on the pitch as ICTS is off it!”
Best wishes to the team for their season. It is important to us to support grassroots charities and to make a difference in the communities in which we operate. This approach underpins our Corporate Social Responsibility agenda.

PROCEEDS FROM BRIAN O’SHAUGHNESSY’S BOOK "TRUSTED YET DANGEROUS" WILL BE DONATED TO THE STROKE ASSOCIATION CHARITY
Brian O’Shaughnessy, our Business Assurance Manager writes, “During my Doctorate in Security & Risk Management, I have concentrated extensively on the issue of insider threats, a focus which has culminated in the upcoming publication of my book, "Trusted Yet Dangerous: The Insider Threat Challenge in Physical Security."
While cybersecurity often dominates discussions about insider threats, the physical security aspects are equally critical and frequently overlooked. This book shifts the focus, illuminating the serious risks posed not by distant adversaries but by those within our own organisations individuals in whom we place our trust daily. "Trusted Yet Dangerous" dives deep into the world of physical security insider threats through meticulous analyses, real-world case studies, and authoritative insights. It explores the intricate nature of these threats, their profound impact on organisations, and effective strategies for mitigating these risks. This comprehensive exploration aims to enhance awareness and strengthen defences against one of the most insidious dangers to organisational integrity.
The book will be released on February 2nd, 2025 and is available on Amazon. All profits from the sale of "Trusted Yet Dangerous" will be donated to the Stroke Association charity, supporting a cause that touches many lives.”
Movember is a leading men s health charity raising awareness on prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health and suicide prevention.

TUCK SHOP INITIATIVE AT SOUTHAMPTON AIRPORT
In October, our Team at Southampton Airport set up a new tuck shop, stocked with a variety of snacks and refreshments; a convenient option for a quick pick-meup for our staff during the workday. It was decided that all proceeds should go towards restocking the shop and any profits were to be donated to a charity selected by our team.
The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, and demand has been so high that staff are working hard to keep up with restocking the shop! The £200 profit from the sales will be donated to the Infantile Spasms Trust charity.
This charity is very close to our two colleagues’ hearts as their son was diagnosed when he was 8 weeks old.
SPONSORSHIP OF AN ELECTRIC VEHICLE CHARGING POINT IN THE COMMUNITY
ICTS UK & Ireland is proud to have taken a further step towards sustainability by sponsoring an electric vehicle charging point at Hampstead School in London. Our £1,000 contribution made it possible to install the charging station, encouraging the use of eco-friendly transport among staff, parents, and the wider community.
Hampstead School is a large comprehensive school in the London Borough of Camden, within the vicinity of our London Head Office. Our Employee of the Year 2023, Kamal Hashi, represented ICTS and met with the school’s Headteacher and pupils to mark the inauguration of the charging station on 15 November 2024.
Matt Sadler, Head of Hampstead School said, “Our students have made it clear that they want our school to be more sustainable, and our staff are more likely than ever to invest in clean forms of transport, so the whole school community is thrilled that the donation from ICTS has made the installation of EV charging points possible.”
This initiative aligns with ICTS’ commitment to supporting green efforts and raising awareness about reducing carbon emissions. We believe in contributing to a greener future and helping the next generation to understand the value of collectively caring for the environment.
BRINGING FESTIVE CHEER TO HILLINGDON HOSPITAL
On Monday, 9 December, our Aviation Security Team from Stockley Park visited Hillingdon Hospital in Uxbridge, continuing a tradition we have maintained for several years.
This year ICTS was pleased to celebrate the festive season by donating care packages and bathrobes for the elderly, Christmas hampers for the Hospital’s Christmas raffle, as well as a television, PlayStation, and board games for the Paediatric ward.
“Giving back to the communities in which we operate is important to us and our annual event at Hillingdon Hospital, is very much enjoyed by our ICTS staff members” said Priti Kamal, Recruitment & Vetting Manager for London Heathrow Airport.
