Access Access is one of our four pillars to success here at Grace Health. This pillar represents improving access to quality health care and services which supports our mission statement-- to show the love and share the truth of Jesus Christ to southeastern Kentucky through access to compassionate, high quality, primary health care for the whole person. Access is the first of the four pillars, followed by people, quality, and community. These pillars have been implemented into Grace Health's strategic plan from the start of the organization.

This newsletter tells the unique story of how Grace Health got started. I am so grateful to be a part of an organization that was established on the foundation of Jesus Christ. The values, pillars to success, and foundation all focus on our Savior, which is what makes Grace Health so special. In this edition, you will find highlights of the amazing job that our staff has done to strive towards improving access to quality health care and services to our communities. In this past quarter, our outreach team has done an excellent job of getting back out in our community to reach out to individuals and inform them of the health care opportunities at Grace Health. Pages 4 and 5 highlight two major events that we utilized to reach hundreds of individuals and represent Grace Health in a positive light. Looking back on this previous quarter, some very exciting things happened at Grace Health. I am proud to see the growth of this organization in just the past few months as we opened our 10th clinic and hired over 20 new employees. Reflecting on the growth that we've accomplished since the beginning of this organization, it excites me to think about the future and the direction we are heading in. Our staff continues to go above and beyond to better serve our communities. Now more than ever you all have excelled at being accessible to individuals in the community during a time where face-toface contact has been limited. I want to encourage you to read this quarter's newsletter to see some of the excellent things that we have been doing to better serve our patients and communities here at Grace Health. Thank you all for a great first quarter in 2021! "Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us" -Ephesians 3:20 - Michael Stanley

How

Started

Chad Stevens, CFO at Grace Health, and Alesia Anderson, Grace Health's Senior Director of Community Programs, are two employees who have been with Grace Health from the beginning. Each of these individuals shared about the journey from the start of the organization in 2008. In addition, Dr. David Worthy served as the CEO at the start of Grace Health and recently shared his story with Alesia -- there was a group of physicians in the Corbin area who shared a vision to start a faith-based clinic with the mission of showing the love and sharing the truth of Jesus Christ. One day, one of the physicians in this group received an email from HRSA regarding a grant for Knox and Clay Counties, which led them to apply. Due to difficulties when trying to electronically submit the application, the staff called HRSA and requested to send the application through paper instead. The race was on because there was another FQHC that was competing to try and receive the grant as well. In the end, the other organization's submission was not received by HRSA, so Grace Health was able to receive the full grant. Alesia made it clear that "this wasn't just a coincidence, but I had faith that this was all in God's control." Once they received the grant, many employees and volunteers had to hit the ground running in order to open the first clinic before the deadline. Chad Stevens said the help that they received from volunteers was amazing. Chad explained how the team and community volunteers literally helped put up the walls of the first clinic and made it possible to open the Grace Health Clinic in Gray by the deadline. In 2013, the leadership and Board of Directors at Grace Health made a strategic decision to start meeting with local independent physician practices to create opportunities for growth. This led to Grace Health being able to acquire Women's Care in 2014 and Watts, Perry, & Perry, the largest family practice in Corbin, in 2015. In 2017, we were then able to bring on the largest internal medicine practice, Turner, Whitley, & Morton. After Dr. Samuel Kreis and his Mountain View practice in London, KY came on board. Since then, Grace Health has been able to continue to see the growth -- even during this previous pandemic year -- with the opening of Grace Health's newest clinic, the Levi Center Clinic, in London, KY. Chad Stevens shared that he believes the core of the mission is what has fueled all of the growth and success at Grace Health: The foundation of Jesus Christ; Grace Health's core values; Pillars to success (Access, People, Quality, Community); and A team focused on serving. Chad and Alesia both shared that it has been a privilege to be a part of the journey of Grace Health from the beginning and witness the astonishing work that God has done and provided throughout the years at Grace Health.

Health Insurance Opportunities The Grace Heath team helps people take advantage of insurance opportunities One of Grace Health's Community Outreach and Enrollment Specialists, Mike Wynn, stated that he is proud that Grace Health operates more like a mission than an agency. Mike's roll is to help the communities and Grace Health patients to enroll for affordable and accessible health care. Grace Health strives to reach out to all individuals, to provide information about how to get health care or how to best utilize the health care they already have. Grace Health also helps people complete the enrollment process. One of the agencies that the enrollment team works with is the Department of Medicaid, which offers an Expanded Medicaid Program. This program allows individuals to work and receive income, while potentially being able to qualify for a Kentucky Medical Card. Grace Health also works with KCHIP, which is Kentucky's Children Health Insurance Program. Grace Health works alongside the state of Kentucky to ensure that our children have adequate health care to access the care they need. Beyond helping individuals with these two agencies, Grace Health also helps individuals enroll in the Affordable Care Act called the "Marketplace Coverage". This is health insurance for people whose income is over the Medicaid limit. This is affordable and quality health care that the government has deemed the essential minimum coverage, ensuring even if you have preexisting health concerns. you can get coverage at no additional cost. This Marketplace Coverage through the Affordable Care Act is able to provide high-quality healthcare, at a very affordable price. Part of the role of Grace Health's Outreach and Enrollment team is to make access to highquality health care easy. Grace Health has the ability to be mobile and help people enroll anywhere and is not restricted to an office at Grace Health. The outreach and enrollment team makes every effort to meet you where you are at, including setting up at factories, street corners, and out in the community. Grace Health's Outreach and Enrollment team will help you maintain insurance, fix problems, and walk with you every step of the way.

Telehealth Extends Our Reach House calls look different now, but Grace Health is meeting customers where they are. Now more than ever, telehealth has become a necessary transition for healthcare providers. By transitioning to virtual and telemedicine visits, we aim to help patients manage chronic conditions and other care to try to keep them out of hospital emergency rooms. Not only is the service convenient for patients who might fear the spread of the sickness, but it’s also a protection for our staff within the Grace Health organization. Additionally, for those who need treatment for chronic illnesses, there is no risk of transmission of contagious sickness, and allows follow up appointments to be virtual. With our telehealth program, you can connect to your healthcare provider by using a computer, an iPad, tablet or phone from the safety of your home. The telehealth program functions like our clinics in many ways. Grace Health is able to provide care for patients with symptoms like sore throat, fever, cough, congestion, and respiratory problems, To meet these needs, Grace Health has expanded telemedicine to 36 sites including six primary care clinics, one women’s health clinic, nineteen school-based health centers, seven nursing homes, and one hospital. Services include primary care, consultations, behavioral health, and patient engagement. Visits are first-come, first-serve, and wait times will vary depending on demand. The program is led by our expert health team of board-certified providers and staffed by the same Grace Health workers the communities have come to know and trust. Some of the main benefits to telehealth, include:

The ability to get care in real-time Engagement / Remote monitoring of conditions Streamlined clinical systems Discounted patient costs Larger reach for clinicians

Patient Portal A way to improve contactless care

During this COVID-19 pandemic, limiting unnecessary contact has been an essential part of our every-day lives; however, having access to health care is still a necessity. Grace Health is proud to provide a Patient Portal tool to assist our patients during this time. Patient Portal is a great way for patients to access the information and files that they need while being able to limit physical contact. When you visit one of our Grace Health clinics for the first time, new patients will fill out paperwork that will then be put on the Patient Portal. Patients will then be able to access their Patient Portal by going to gracehealthky.org and clicking on the patient portal icon. Tyler Dotson, Patient Support Services Manager, shared that the Patient Portal is designed to help eliminate some of the stresses and concerns that interfere with people seeking health care. With your patient portal, you can be in control of your health care, save time, help you communicate with your doctor, and obtain support care between visits. This tool is a secure online website that gives patients convenient 24-hour access to personal health information by signing in with a secure username and password.

Patients can view health information or complete tasks such as the following: Recent doctor visits Discharge summaries Medications Immunizations Allergies Lab results Securely message your doctor
