Out of approximately 600 applications submitted nationwide, Grace Health was among 126 recipients selected

The funding will be split evenly over a two-year period as we continue to provide accessible health care for patients and underserved community members By providing more opportunities for patients to receive care in a primary care setting, this initiative aims to reduce barriers to care, improve health outcomes, and alleviate the burden on emergency departments

GRACE STORIES

A BREATH OF FRESH AIR WITH JOHNNY BENGE, CHW

When a woman struggling to afford her inhalers sought help, her daughter reached out at a community outreach event Concerned for her mother’s health, she explained that the high cost of medication was making it nearly impossible for her to manage her breathing condition

Johnny Benge, a Community Health Worker (CHW) at Grace Health, stepped in. During an in-home visit, he conducted a thorough assessment and discovered a hidden culprit mold caused by a leaking pipe in the basement’s heating and air system This environmental factor was worsening her respiratory issues.

Johnny immediately took action, coordinating with the USDA for mold removal and the Daniel Boone Action Agency to secure home improvements. The repairs went beyond mold removal; the patient’s home was transformed with new insulation, a heating and air unit, updated ductwork, and replaced windows With these changes, her breathing improved dramatically She could reduce her inhaler use, cut medication costs, and even rely less on her C-PAP machine.

By addressing both medical and environmental factors, Johnny helped restore not just her health but also her quality of life This is the heart of Grace Health’s mission ensuring that patients can breathe easier, live healthier, and focus on what matters most.

SPOTLIGHT ON WELLNESS

Autism Awareness Month: Promoting Understanding and Inclusion

April is Autism Awareness Month, a time dedicated to increasing understanding, acceptance, and support for individuals with autism Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) affects how a person communicates, interacts, and experiences the world While each individual is unique, early intervention, education, and community support can significantly impact their lives.

This month, we encourage everyone to learn more about autism, embrace neurodiversity, and promote inclusion. Small actions such as listening, advocating, and creating supportive environments help build a more accepting world. Together, we can move beyond awareness to meaningful acceptance and empowerment. We invite everyone to join us on April 12 for the Action for Autism Walk in London. Visit the Action for Autism Walk event page on Facebook for more info.
