The Parks and Recreation Commission is a Council-appointed committee that acts as a liaison between the constituents and the Parks and Recreation Department. There will be no refund given if the office is not notified of withdrawal at least 24 hours or 1 business day (whichever is greater) before the start of the program. This will be strictly enforced. Refunds can be requested in person, by phone or email to the Parks and Recreation Department office. Requests made in person or by phone should be submitted Monday-Friday from 8am-5pm. This advanced notice is required for all programs, regardless of the number of days they are held.
To better serve our community, Deer Park Parks and Recreation Department (DPPARD) contracts out several programs. Due to advanced planning with the contracted instructors, it is at the discretion of the instructor to decide to issue a refund for said program. Only with approval from the instructor will the DPPARD issue the refund. In the event the Department cancels any program, a full refund will be promptly issued.

All ages are welcome, but it is recommended that those under 8 have an adult to assist.

Mat pilates will focus on controlled breathing during body weight resisted movement to build core strength. It will also utilize the training of the arms and legs as well as the trunk muscles. Fencing for the teen and adult fencer, both beginners and those with some experience. Our focus is largely on foil, but sabre and epee are also explored. We learn the basics of footwork and blade work, have open fencing and selfreferee. The final class of each month is given over to electric fencing just as a fencer would experience at a local tournament. No personal equipment or prior experience is required to start.

The Summer League will only allow 60 participants in each division this season. Teams will be determined by a “blind draft” per age division regardless of what school they attend. The summer League will also be Co-Ed. Each player receives a basketball jersey. Games are held on Saturdays at DPISD gyms.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THE JIMMY BURKE ACTIVITY CENTER IS THE ONLY FACILITY THAT ALLOWS THE CONSUMPTION OF ALCOHOL. Rentals for this facility cannot be booked past 11 pm on Friday and Saturday and 10 pm on Sunday - Thursday. Police Department presence is mandatory with alcohol consumption. The rate for an officer is $35 per hour (price subject to change without notice) and you are required to have them during the entire rental. The payment is made directly to the Deer Park Police Department and will not be included in your initial rental cost. Alcohol cannot be sold on the premises. If alcohol is being served a cover charge for entry cannot be imposed on guests.

Need an affordable venue for your celebration? We are bringing back the Game Room Party Package. We have modified some procedures to stay within the COVID guidelines to maintain a safe and enjoyable event. Each party includes a rental room, tables, chairs, and 2 hours of loaded exclusive fun in our game room. Saturday party hours are from 1:30-4:30pm with access from 1:30-3:30pm in the game room. This is offered to Deer Park Residents at $90 plus $100 refundable deposit and Non Residents at $100 plus $100 refundable deposit.
