Building the Future

Dow Active Complex

Contractors and the City continue to make significant progress on the new community center. The DAC (Dow Active Complex), remains on schedule for a summer 2025 opening. The 65,000 square foot facility will offer a state-of-the-art fitness center, 2 full size gymnasiums, a running/walking track, indoor recreation and therapy pool, aerobics room, community rooms and child watch area. Recent progress on the project includes the roof installation, bath house renovations and brick work. The city will continue to keep the community updated on the progress of the facility, as we are extremely excited to open in 2025

Battleground Golf Course

The Parks and Recreation Department is moving forward on multiple projects at the Battleground Golf Course. Projects in the near future include bulk head repair, driving range roof replacement, driving range lighting and cart path repairs.

Glenwood Park & Spencerview Bridge

Contractors are nearing completion of the Glenwood Park parking lot project. The City has contracted with Lucas construction to develop additional parking and trail access to Spencerview Athletic Complex. Upon completion of the parking lot, the City will provide bridge access from the new lot to the athletic complex. Project is expected to be completed in the spring of 2025.

Jimmy Burke Activity Center

The Parks and Recreation Department continued to work with BRW Architects on the design of the new Jimmy Burke Activity Center. The new stateof-the-art 55,780 square-foot facility will feature larger event and programming space, new audio/ visual technology, historical museum, new dog park, convention-like meeting space and breakout rooms and an outdoor seating area. Ground breaking is scheduled for February, 2025. The Parks and Recreation Department will continue to keep the community updated on the progress of the construction and anticipated completion date when available.
