While his ability to tackle complex issues through his distinctly geometric sensibility has long marked his career, Luis La Rosa’s recent installations are a particularly exceptional series that fully displays his thoughtfulness and precision. Gravitational Wave Sensor makes for a stellar exemplar of La Rosa’s distinct approach to material and interpretation. Conical-tiered plant supports and convex plastic discs combine to form an otherworldly curvilinear pyramid that engages with the space around it. The bowing shape of each transparent disc allows the installation to stretch beyond its physical bounds through an array of dynamic refractions and shadows.
