MOLEIRO Leonardo

Not one to shy away from a bold palette and striking shapes, it is easy to be drawn into Leonardo Moleiro’s fearless practice. In every work, he creates an enticing plane of converging forms in seductive hues. While these features may quickly bewitch you, the real magic of Moleiro’s paintings is, in fact, the sense of rhythm and movement. Using a highly considered balance of repetition and reflection, he instils each painting with a pulsing undercurrent which drives the work forward like a pounding bass drum. Between Your Eyes is a thundering example of this effect. This oversized painting sees sweeping swaths of colors and suggestions of faces emanating from the center of the canvas. This pulse ripples outward as each element repeats or transforms, and the painting appears to bloom in real time. The persistent pulsing, in concert with the painting’s hulking size, makes it appear as though it may escape beyond the confines of the frame and ensnare you as it continues to unfurl and grow. While he is clearly a master of palette and shape, Leonardo Moleiro’s kaleidoscopic paintings’ power predominantly comes from the captivating nature of their heartbeat.

Es fácil ser capturado por la audaz práctica de Leonardo Moleiro, sin soslayo de su enérgica paleta y llamativa figuración. En cada trabajo, el artista crea un sugestivo plano de formas convergentes en tonos seductores. Si bien estas características pueden ser tremendamente fascinantes, la verdadera magia de las pinturas de Moleiro es, de hecho, su sentido del ritmo y el movimiento. Valiéndose de un muy bien pensado equilibrio entre repeticiones y reflexiones, el artista instila un trasfondo pulsante en cada pintura, lo que la impulsa hacia adelante como un bombo que retumba. Entre tus ojos es un indiscutible ejemplo de este efecto. Esta pintura de gran formato muestra amplias áreas de color y rostros sugeridos que emanan del centro del lienzo. El pulso ondea hacia afuera a medida que cada elemento se repite o se transforma, y la pintura parece florecer en tiempo real.
