Y a tono con el mundo, no puede faltar el tema salud en nuestras páginas, así sabrán que el primaveral mes de abril acogerá a BioHabana 2022, donde la comunidad científica internacional integrará logros para proponer soluciones en favor de la humanidad. Y en octubre, para quienes valoran los avances de Cuba en el campo de la genética y la biotecnología, aplicada a necesidades médica no resueltas, la Convención Internacional Cubasalud 2022 estará oficiando su feria comercial “Salud para todos”.

Música y artes visuales tienen también su espacio en nuestra Guía de ocio y Turismo, para corresponder con el alma de esta tierra melódica y artística. La canción llegará de las voces del dúo Iris, dos jóvenes compositores cubanos que aúnan emociones, proyectos y suerte. Y como “…aquí el que más fino sea, responde si llamo yo…”*, la Fiesta del Tambor hará un magistral despliegue musical en su edición 19, en La Habana, Ciudad Creativa de la Unesco en la categoría de música. Los amantes de las artes visuales podrán enterarse de dónde acudir para disfrutar de luz y colorido, a través de la exposición: “Iluminando la plástica”, constituida por obras de virtuosos artistas de la caribeña isla.

And in tune with the world, the topic of health cannot be missing in our pages, so you will know that the spring month of April will host BioHabana 2022, where the international scientific community will integrate achievements to propose solutions for the benefit of humanity. And in October, for those who value Cuba's advances in the field of genetics and biotechnology, applied to unresolved medical needs, the Cubasalud 2022 International Convention will be officiating its " Salud para todos" (Health for all) trade fair.

Music and visual arts also have their space in our Leisure and Tourism Guide, to correspond with the soul of this melodic and artistic land. The song will come from the voices of the duo Iris, two young Cuban composers who combine emotions, projects and luck. And as "...here whoever is the most refined, answers if I call... "*, the Drum Festival will make a masterful musical display in its 19th edition, in Havana, Unesco Creative City in the category of music.

Lovers of the visual arts will be able to find out where to go to enjoy light and color through the exhibition: "Illuminating the plastic arts", made up of works by talented artists from the Caribbean island.

Geografía: Ubicada a la entrada del golfo de México, el archipiélago cubano está formado por la isla de Cuba, la Isla de la Juventud y aproximadamente 4,195 cayos e islotes. Cerca de 140 km la separan las Bahamas; 77 km Haití; 180 km de Florida; 210 km Cancún y 146 km de Jamaica.

La silueta de Cuba, alargada y estrecha, alcanza los 120 km de longitud y entre 32 y 145 km de ancho. En total el territorio abarca 110.922 km, lo que la distingue como la mayor de las Antillas y por su ubicación geográfica la llaman también la llave del Golfo.

Geography: Located in the Caribbean Sea, the Cuban archipelago includes the Island of Cuba, the Island of Youth – Isla de la Juventud – and approximately some 4,195 keys and islets. Its nearest neighbors are: the Bahamas, 140 Km (to the north), Haiti; 77 Km (to the east); Florida, US, 180 Km (to the north); Cancun, Mexico, 210 Km (to the west) and Jamaica, 146 Km (to the southeast).

Visitada, continuamente, por cubanos y turistas de todas las naciones, la hermosa Plaza de la Catedral, con su encanto barroco, continúa siendo un lugar magnífico para comenzar un recorrido por la Vieja Habana. Su fisonomía es de esas que influyen, del modo más a apasionado, en el sincretismo arquitectónico que define a la capital de Cuba.

Recorrerla, a través de sus adoquines de piedra, es una evocación a siglos pasados.

Todo en ella encanta y entusiasma. Su génesis fue discreta pues cuando aún La Habana era una pequeña y caprichosa ciudadela amurallada, la hoy famosa Plaza de La Catedral, no era más que una plazuela a la que acudían los pobladores en busca de agua.

Its appearance is one of those that influences, in the most passionate way, the architectural syncretism that defines the capital of Cuba.

Its genesis was discreet because when Havana was still a small and whimsical walled citadel, the now famous Cathedral Square was nothing more than a small square where the inhabitants went in search of water.

El siglo XVI la vio nacer, siendo por entonces un espacio pantanoso donde quedaban retenidas las aguas de lluvia, en su recorrido hasta la bahía, por ello su nombre inicial fue Plaza de la Ciénaga.

Pero como todos los sitios destinados a despuntar y asumir un lugar relevante en la vida de una urbe, esta plaza tenía designada su buena ventura. Próxima al mar -medio imprescindible para el desarrollo de la ciudad- y elegida en principio, por la Orden eclesiástica de los Jesuita para levantar su templo, religión y sociedad hicieron de ella el símbolo que es hoy.

Convertida La Habana en cabecera de Diócesis, la entonces Parroquial Mayor erigida en el siglo XVIII, pasó a servir como Catedral y el espacio que se extendía ante ella, fue bautizado como Plaza de la Catedral, hoy parte importantísima del Centro Histórico de la ciudad, avalado por la UNESCO como patrimonio mundial.

Entre sus construcciones más espléndidas sobresale la Catedral de La Habana, el más fiel exponente del barroco en Cuba, su fachada cincelada en piedra trasmite a quien la contempla un movimiento constante. Describirla no es suficiente, nació para ser admirada con detenimiento.

Según el escritor cubano Alejo Carpentier, esta extraordinaria edificación es música esculpida en piedra. Además de sus actividades litúrgicas y sus valores arquitectónicos, la iglesia posee un interior espléndido y sus notorias obras de arte aumentan su valía, entre ellos se encuentran óleos del artista francés Jean-Baptiste Vermay, frescos del italiano Giuseppe Perovani y lienzos de la Virgen de Loreto, bendecida por el obispo Morell de Santa Cruz en 1755, y de la Virgen de la Purísima Concepción, Patrona de La Catedral.

It was born in the 16th century, being at that time a swampy space where rainwater was retained on its way to the bay, hence its initial name was Plaza de la Ciénaga (Swamp Square).

But like all places destined to emerge and assume a relevant spot in the life of a city, this square had its good fortune. Close to the sea -an essential means for the development of the city- and chosen in principle by the Jesuit Ecclesiastical Order to build its temple; religion and society made of it the symbol it is today.

When Havana became the head of the Diocese, the then Parroquial Mayor, built in the 18th century, became the Cathedral and the space before it was baptized Plaza de la Catedral, today a very important part of the Historic Center of the city, declared a World Heritage Site

by UNESCO. Among its most splendid constructions stands out the Havana Cathedral, the most faithful exponent of baroque in Cuba, its facade chiseled in stone transmits to those who contemplate it a constant movement. It is not enough to describe it; it was born to be admired in detail. According to Cuban writer Alejo Carpentier, this extraordinary building is music sculpted in stone. In addition to its liturgical activities and architectural values, the church has a magnificent interior and its notorious works of art increase its value. Su adoquinada explanada, que fuera escenario de fiestas, ferias y mercados comunitarios en los añejos siglos XVI y XVII, fue codiciada por hacendados y comerciantes con títulos nobiliarios, quienes levantaron en sus alrededores, fastuosos palacetes de doble planta, con prominentes portales, amplios salones y patio interior. Así, muchas familias de abolengo, entre ellos los Marqueses de Aguas Claras, los de Arcos, los de Lombillo, aportaron a la plaza la apariencia arquitectónica tan maravillosa que hoy se disfruta.

La construcción de lujosas mansiones dotó a la plaza de vida propia, cada casona con historias sorprendentes. La primera de las viviendas fue la casa del conde Bayona, justo al frente de la catedral, su

propietario fue uno de los gobernadores militares de Cuba, Don Luis Chacón que casó a su hija con el primer conde de Casa Bayona, de ahí el nombre del palacete, donde radica hoy el Museo de Arte Colonial.

Otra de las más vetustas casonas de la plaza es la del Marqués de Arcos, que atesora entre sus valores, la más acabada pieza de herrería de toda La Habana colonial y que sirve de adorno a su imponente balcón. La casa del Conde Lombillo, a continuación de esta, sobresale por su sobriedad y en su amplio pórtico, destaca, recostado a una de sus imponentes columnas, la estatua de Antonio Guedes, el reconocido español, bailarín de flamenco, entrañable amigo de Cuba.

Y para finalizar este recorrido por la más barroca de las plazas habaneras, se impone una invitación; un alto en el transitar por la bella plazoleta capitalina: el restaurante El Patio, una verdadera joya constructiva donde sobresalen su monumental portal y sus coloridos vitrales que le dan al interior una suerte de cálido recinto tropical. Allí, el tradicional arte culinario cubano satisface el gusto de sus comensales que se sienten, además, acogidos cual nobles señores, en lo que fuera durante el siglo XVIII la Casa de los Marqueses de Aguas Claras.

Venga pues, el visitante ávido de historias y secretos a desandar una plaza colonial y barroca, tantas veces recreada por cronistas, poetas, grabadores. Un espacio con magia, una sinfonía de la belleza urbanística, en el mismo corazón de la Habana Vieja.

BIOHABANA 2022 PARA UNA « CIENCIA VIDA SALUDABLE »

BioHabana 2022 International Congress:

El Congreso Internacional BioHabana 2022, se desarrollará entre los días 25 y 29 del próximo mes de abril, en el capitalino Palacio de Convenciones, organizado por el Grupo de la Industria Biotecnológica y Farmacéutica de Cuba, BioCubaFarma, que convoca a la comunidad científica mundial, bajo el lema «Ciencia para una vida saludable».

Los organizadores del cónclave definen como principal propósito del mismo debatir y analizar sobre los cardinales retos actuales que tiene la ciencia, fundamentalmente, para combatir enfermedades que hoy no tienen solución efectiva, y , de igual manera, intercambiar las experiencias asociadas a la pandemia de la COVID-19, la biotecnología en la producción de alimentos por su importancia para la salud en el universo, la agrobiotecnología, y biotecnología animal, entre otros tópicos.

"Science for a healthy life" The BioHabana 2022 International Congress will be held from April 25th to 29th, at the Convention Palace in Havana, Cuba, organized by the Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical Industry Group of Cuba, BioCubaFarma, which brings together the world scientific community under the slogan "Science for a healthy life".

Simposio COVID-19 El simposio COVID-19, es un espacio principal en el que se presentará el protocolo del tratamiento en Cuba y se dedicarán conferencias específicas sobre los diferentes productos que han sido herramientas clave y han distinguido al integral protocolo cubano, en el cual el 85 por ciento de los medicamentos empleados es fabricado en el país, como los interferones, la Biomodulina B y el Nasalferón, de gran repercusión en el control de la epidemia en la isla.

Se ofrecerá información acerca de nuevas generaciones de vacunas anti-COVID-19 para la fase endémica; de un inmunógeno de un espectro más amplio contra los coronavirus que se está desarrollando de conjunto con China, con comportamientos alentadores a nivel de laboratorio, y se dará a conocer el avance del proceso de las vacunas adaptadas al antígeno de la variante ómicrom.

Epidemiología, comportamiento de los diferentes picos de la epidemia en Cuba, las variantes que han estado circulando y resultados de la efectividad de las vacunas nacionales, serán asuntos tratados en otras sesiones, al igual que las características e impacto de inmunógenos de otros países.

Otro espacio estará destinado a las experiencias en el campo de las neurociencias y los trastornos del cerebro y la salud mental, y a las secuelas neurológicas de la COVID-19.

También serán expuestas las derivas alentadoras de fármacos como la vacuna CIMAvax-EGF, el Nimotuzumab y el HeberFERON, además del NeuroEpo para padecimientos como el Alzheimer y su evaluación en Parkinson.

Una sesión del cónclave abordará la tecnología médica y la industria 4,0; los bioprocesos, la desarrollabilidad y los espacios de diseño, en cuanto a la fabricación de medicamentos, a partir de la amplia experiencia de Cuba, y las estrategias de negocios innovadoras, las tendencias más recientes a nivel internacional y se hará un ejercicio de exposición de las oportunidades de negocios que los productos cubanos ofrecen a potenciales inversores foráneos, analizando las propuestas de valor de dichos productos y su competitividad en el mundo.

Se espera la participación de más de cien empresarios e investigadores, ya están confirmados los conferencistas de primer

COVID-19 Symposium The COVID-19 symposium is a main space in which the treatment protocol in Cuba will be presented and specific conferences will be dedicated to the different products that have been key elements and have distinguished the integral Cuban protocol, in which 85% of the drugs used are produced in the country, such as interferons, Biomodulin B and Nasalferon, of great repercussion in the control of the epidemic on the island.

One session of the event will address medical technology and Industry 4.0; bioprocesses, developability and design spaces, in terms of drug manufacturing, based on Cuba's extensive experience, and innovative business strategies, the most recent trends at the international level and an exercise will be carried out to showcase the business opportunities that Cuban products offer to potential foreign investors, analyzing the value propositions of those products and their competitiveness in the world.

VIAJE AL CENTRO DE CUBA Enclavada en las inmediaciones del centro geográfico del archipiélago, Santa Clara es la capital de la provincia Villa Clara. This emblematic square, located in the historic center of the city, houses the best of the colonial architecture of the municipality and is a symbol of the culture and identity of the people of Santa Clara.

In its interior are preserved monuments and statues of great relevance and patrimonial value, such as the Obelisk, the Fountain of the child of the unfortunate boot, the monument made to Marta Abreu, outstanding benefactor of the city and the bust dedicated to Colonel Leoncio Vidal Caro, who fell in combat defending his homeland in a heroic way, and whose name baptizes the Park.

In a corner of the square is the Hotel Santa Clara Libre, which is the tallest building in the city, on its facade you can still see the traces of gunshots that took place during the guerrilla fight against the forces of the Batista regime.

En el Parque se alza también el majestuoso Palacio Provincial de Gobierno, construido entre 1904 y 1912, su corte neoclásico confluye con diferentes estilos. El inmueble cumplió su objetivo como sede del Gobierno Provincial, hasta la década del 70, cuando fue convertido en la Biblioteca “Martí”. Sus puertas están abiertas para aquellos que quieran adentrarse en el patrimonio bibliográfico de la provincia.

El Boulevard, la calle peatonal más concurrida Cerca del Parque Vidal se encuentra el Boulevard de Santa Clara, que con aires de modernidad recibe al visitante.

Considerado una de las arterias más concurridas de la capital provincial, el sitio posee una extensión lineal de 350 metros.

En sus alrededores confluyen variedad de negocios y comercios donde se puede ir de compras, disfrutar una comida o trago y tomarse un descanso luego de un día de paseo por la ciudad.

The views from its restaurant, on the tenth floor, are ideal to have a panoramic view of the city and relax while having a good coffee.

For its immaterial value and the colossal mixture of buildings from the colonial, neo-colonial and revolutionary periods, Leoncio Vidal Park and its surroundings have been declared a National Monument.

Among its buildings we find the Teatro de la Caridad, of colonial style, in excellent conservation state, which began to offer shows in the year 1885. This has been one of the most important spaces of the artistic activity in the country; important companies of world-wide renown have performed on its stages.

In the Park also stands the majestic Provincial Palace of Government, built between 1904 and 1912, its neoclassical style blends with different styles.

The building served its purpose

as the seat of the Provincial Government until the 1970s, when it was converted into the "Martí" Library. Its doors are open to those who wish to delve into the bibliographic heritage of the province.

« FIESTA DEL TAMBOR » ESTARÁ DEDICADO A CUBA

El festival Fiesta del Tambor, en su decimonovena edición, se celebrará del 1ro. al 6 de marzo del 2022 en la capital cubana, y en el contexto de tal evento, tendrá lugar la competencia internacional Guillermo Barreto in Memoriam.

La cita musical estará dedicada a Cuba y como sedes se harán presentaciones en el Anfiteatro del Puerto de La Habana, el Salón Rosado de la Tropical, el Arco de Belén del Centro Histórico y el Hotel Nacional de Cuba.

Precisamente, el Salón 1930 de la prestigiosa instalación hotelera, acogerá la competición los días 1ro. y 2 de marzo, a partir de las cuatro de la tarde. Allí se rivalizará en la ejecución del drums, convocatoria para profesionales, quienes

realizarán un solo de batería de dos minutos y como base tendrán, únicamente, la «clave de la rumba».

Un prestigioso tribunal constituido por los maestros Enrique Pla, José Luis Quintana (Changuito) y Oliver Valdés, determinará cuáles serán los cinco finalistas que discutirán los premios, el 6 de marzo, a las nueve de la noche, en el Anfiteatro de la Avenida del Puerto de La Habana.

Debido a la actual situación epidemiológica que en algunos países ha generado medidas de restricción de movilidad, un grupo de invitados internacionales que participarían en el evento se han visto imposibilitados de asistir al encuentro en La Habana.

The Fiesta del Tambor festival will be dedicated to Cuba The Fiesta del Tambor festival, in its 19th edition, will be held from March 1st to 6th, 2022 in the Cuban capital, and in the context of such event, the international competition Guillermo Barreto in Memoriam will take place.

The musical event will be dedicated to Cuba and the venues will be the Amphitheater of the Port of Havana, the Salón Rosado de la Tropical, the Arco de Belén in the Historic Center and the Hotel Nacional de Cuba.

Precisely, the Hall 1930 of the prestigious hotel will host the competition on March 1st and 2nd, starting at 4:00 p.m. The competition will be held at the Hotel Nacional de Cuba. There they will compete in drums execution, a call for professionals, who will perform a two-minute drum solo and will only have the key of the rumba as a base.

A prestigious tribunal formed by masters Enrique Pla, José Luis Quintana (Changuito) and Oliver Valdés, will determine the five finalists who will discuss the awards on March 6th, at 9:00 p.m., at the Amphitheatre of Avenida del Puerto in Havana.

Due to the current epidemiological situation that in some countries has generated mobility restriction measures, a group of international guests scheduled to participate in the event have been unable to attend the gathering in Havana.

Entre los artistas participantes cuentan Los Muñequitos de Matanzas, que están celebrando los 70 años de fundados; el Conjunto Folklórico Nacional, que cumple 60 años de labor danzaria, así como la orquesta Los Van Van, Giraldo Piloto y Klimax, Alaín Pérez, Pupy Pedroso y su orquesta, Elito Revé y su Charangón, Síntesis, Alexander Abreu y Habana de Primera, Brenda Navarrete, Degnis Bosfill, Geydi Chapman, David Blanco, compañías JJ y D Suárez, Eduardo Ramos y Más con Menos, Rumbatá, Ronald y Explosión Rumbera, Michel Herrera y Madre Tierra Project, Oliver Valdés y Quinteto de Jazz Cubano, Rolando Luna y Cuban All Stars, la comparsa tradicional Los Componedores de bateas, Obbini Batá, y el espectáculo del célebre Cabaret Tropicana de Cuba.

Otro segmento de gran interés en este evento, que tiene como protagonista al tambor, es el reservado a las clases magistrales que estarán a cargo de acreditados maestros como Giraldo Piloto (drums); Eduardo Ramos (set de percusión); Adel González (congas) y Oliver Valdés (drums).

Otras acciones similares tendrán como tópicos los bailes populares cubanos: el casino fusionado, será impartido por Oddebi García y Jennyselt Galata, la que también ofrecerá del tema folklore, el ciclo yoruba, y de la rumba, el guaguancó y el yambú, junto al maestro Jhoanne García; el profesor Domingo Pau liderará, en el tema rumba, la columbia.

En la primera jornada de la fiesta, la agrupación Ensila Cheche dará un Tambor a los ancestros, a las tres de la tarde y seguidamente, se realizará un homenaje póstumo al reconocido pintor, gran promotor cultural y creador del Callejón de Hamel, en La Habana: Salvador González.

Por vez primera, la Fiesta del Tambor llegará a comunidades vulnerables, con los conciertos: “Tambores para el Barrio”, en los que intervendrán varias agrupaciones rumberas del país que se presentarán en el Parque de la Herradura, en San Miguel del Padrón; Habana Nueva, en Guanabacoa; Libertad, en La Lisa y en el histórico Parque Trillo del municipio Centro Habana.

For the first time, the Drum Festival will reach vulnerable communities with the concerts: " Tambores para el Barrio" (Drums for the Neighborhood), which will feature the participation of several Cuban drumming groups that will perform at the Herradura Park, in San Miguel del Padrón; Habana Nueva, in Guanabacoa; Libertad, in La Lisa and in the historic Trillo Park in the municipality of Centro Habana.

«ILUMINANDO LA PLÁSTICA » ARTÍSTICOS DUETOS DE COLOR Y LUZ

La exposición Iluminando la plástica, concebida por el artesano cubano Francisco Javier Suárez, y que se prestigia con las obras de reconocidos creadores de las artes visuales en el país, está abierta al público en el Centro de Prensa Internacional de El Vedado habanero.

Los artistas de la plástica que intervienen en la muestra son Alberto Lescay, Eduardo Roca (Choco) y Nelson Domínguez, poseedores del Premio Nacional de Artes Plásticas, así como, los destacados y populares virtuosos, Flora Fong, Zaida del Río y Ernesto García Peña.

Iluminando la plástica, exhibe una amplia diversidad de colores, formas, luces, expresividad, sugerencias, y referentes ideoestéticos, entre otros elementos que componen el universo creativo de los artistas que en la misma intervienen.

Estos artífices, han aportado al conjunto expositivo sus sellos personales; desde sus visiones particulares del color y la luz, y sus discursos poéticos, han tocado con magia lámparas y mamparas realizadas por el experimentado artesano, convirtiéndolas así en extraordinarios ejemplos de artísticos duetos, que presentan al visitante la óptica y experiencia estética de firmas que por sí mismas constituyen garantía de alto vuelo estético en el universo de las artes visuales, y en los que se reconoce la impronta de cada uno de estos maestros.

Illuminating the Plastic Arts Exhibition: Artistic duets of color and light The exhibition Illuminating the Plastic Arts, conceived by Cuban artisan Francisco Javier Suarez and featuring the works of renowned creators of the visual arts in the country, is open to the public at the International Press Center in Havana's Vedado neighborhood.

El interesante proyecto, es una idea de Suárez de conjunto con el artista y crítico de arte Manuel López Oliva, quien creó la primera mampara vitrálica, y con quien organizó una muestra inicial de este concepto, como parte del programa de la Bienal de La Habana del año 2019, en la Galería Manos de la Asociación Cubana de Artesanos Artistas, bajo el nombre de Entre luces y mamparas.

López Oliva ha declarado que esta experiencia constituyó un reto, ya que fue necesario adecuarse a una técnica nueva caracterizada por el uso de instrumentos que se colocan a mitad de camino entre el pincel chino y el plumón.

Manuel López Oliva, multifacético creador, es autor también de las palabras del catálogo de la exposición Iluminando la plástica, y en las mismas asevera: «Ahí, en la estructura armada por Francisco Javier, envuelta en cada caso por espectrales fragmentos de vidrio, están los reconocidos imaginarios: manchas con pretensiones antropológicas, visiones lineales de limpio sensualismo, contrapunto entre fiesta del color y caligrafía china, pintura de la materia y del gesto, además de una poética visual en que naturaleza y pasión se conjugan».

Exposición Iluminando la plástica: Artísticos duetos de color y luz

This fascinating project is the brainchild of Suarez together with artist and art critic Manuel Lopez Oliva, who created the first glass screen, and with whom he organized an initial exhibition of this concept as part of the 2019 Havana Biennial program, at the Manos Gallery of the Cuban Association of Artisan Artists, under the name Entre luces y mamparas (Between Lights and Screens).

Lopez Oliva has declared that this experience constituted a challenge, as it was necessary to adapt to a new technique characterized by the use of instruments that are placed halfway between the Chinese brush and the pen.

Manuel López Oliva, multifaceted creator, is also the author of the catalog of the exhibition, and in it he states: "There, in the structure assembled by Francisco Javier, wrapped in each instance by spectral shards of glass, are the recognized imaginary: spots with anthropological pretensions, linear visions of clean sensualism, counterpoint between color party and Chinese calligraphy, painting of matter and gesture, plus a visual poetics in which nature and passion are combined".

Francisco Javier Suárez, es maestro vitralero especializado en la técnica de emplomado, la cual perfeccionó con estudios en Alemania y el Reino Unido, y aplicó a los diseños originales de los artistas que lo acompañan.

Con una larga y destacada trayectoria, Suárez ha contribuido a la belleza de ambientaciones artísticas de más de 30 hoteles, restaurantes, tiendas e instituciones en la mayor de las Antillas, con sus piezas siempre en experimentación y búsqueda de la luz.

Iluminando la plástica, es el resultado de la alianza entre el Fondo Cubano de Bienes Culturales, el Centro de Prensa Internacional y el Taller Estudio Sausand, y demuestra que las relaciones entre artesanía y artes plásticas, signadas por la calidad, devienen propuesta de alto nivel artístico y creativo que conquista siempre el favor del público y la crítica especializada.

Esta exposición marca el inicio de los espacios de la Dirección General de Prensa, Comunicación e Imagen, en función de la diplomacia cultural, en el Centro de Prensa Internacional del Minrex, que se encuentra en la calle 23, número 152, esquina a O, en El Vedado habanero, y estará abierta hasta el mes de abril para disfrute de los amantes del buen arte pictórico y artesanal.

Francisco Javier Suárez is a master stained glass artist specialized in the leaded technique, which he perfected with studies in Germany and the United Kingdom, and applied to the original designs of the artists who accompany him.

With a long and outstanding career, Suarez has contributed to the beauty of artistic settings of more than 30 hotels, restaurants, stores and institutions in the largest of the Antilles, with his pieces always experimenting and searching for light.

Illuminating the plastic arts is the result of the alliance between the Cuban Fund for Cultural Goods, the International Press Center and the Estudio Sausand Workshop, and shows that the relationship between craftsmanship and plastic arts, marked by quality, become a proposal of high artistic and creative level that always conquers the favor of the public and the specialized critics.

This exhibition marks the beginning of the spaces of the General Directorate of Press, Communication and Image, in function of cultural diplomacy, in the International Press Center of the Minrex, which is located on 23rd Street, number 152, corner of O, in Havana's Vedado, and will be open until April for the enjoyment of lovers of good pictorial and handicraft art.

« MI SUERTE » ALBUM DEBUT DEL DUO IRIS El pasado mes de febrero fue presentado el álbum debut Mi Suerte, del joven dúo cubano Iris, en la Basílica Menor del Convento de San Francisco de Asís, suceso que constituyó la celebración del Día del amor y la amistad, por parte de la Empresa de Grabaciones y Ediciones Musicales (EGREM), productora del disco.

Mi suerte, contó con la producción musical y grabación de Yoel Martínez, integrante del grupo Buena Fe, y reúne doce canciones, once de ellas de la autoría de Dayamí Pérez Sánchez y Javier López Elías, integrantes del dueto, y el tema siete, «Vida vida», es fruto del talento del compositor cubano Francisco (Pancho) Céspedes.

Un grupo de reconocidos artistas como Yander Martínez, William Rivero, Rolando Luna, Miguelito Núñez, Camila Daniela, Jorge Aragón, Yibrán Ribero, Ernesto Cisneros, Israel López, y varios integrantes de la agrupación Buena Fe, colaboraron en esta producción en la que el afamado cantautor David Torrens, interpreta junto al dúo, «Haz de Luz», que según declaraciones de Dayamí, es una bella composición «que le canta a la vida y al amor con una poesía hermosa y fresca».

Especialistas en el tema y musicólogos coinciden en que la producción musical del disco ha respetado en cada arreglo la esencia de la pareja, manteniendo su sonoridad acústica, y al mismo tiempo incorporándole armonías electrónicas, propiciando así un equilibrio entre los arreglos y la manera concienzuda de trabajar los timbres de todos los músicos invitados.

Yoel Martínez, en conversación con la prensa, a propósito de la salida al mercado del álbum, confesó que desde la primera vez que escuchó a la pareja musical, resultó «un Oasis», en momentos en que muchos artistas optan por la música comercial, y sin embargo la pareja prioriza lo que les apasiona, temas que hablan de la vida real; «eso me enamoró, me convenció y decidí ayudarlos a realizar su proyecto», confesó el productor de Mi suerte y añadió:

Duo Iris's debut album Last February, the debut album Mi Suerte, by the young Cuban duo Iris, was presented at the Basílica Menor del Convento de San Francisco de Asís, an event that marked the celebration of the Day of Love and Friendship by Empresa de Grabaciones y Ediciones Musicales (EGREM), producer of the album.

Mi suerte was produced and recorded by Yoel Martínez, member of the group Buena Fe, and includes twelve songs, eleven of them written by Dayamí Pérez Sánchez and Javier López Elías, members of the duet, and the seventh song, "Vida vida", is the result of the talent of Cuban composer Francisco (Pancho) Céspedes.

A group of renowned artists such as Yander Martínez, William Rivero, Rolando Luna, Miguelito Núñez, Camila Daniela, Jorge Aragón, Yibrán Ribero, Ernesto Cisneros, Israel López, and several members of the Buena Fe group, collaborated in this production in which the famous singer-songwriter David Torrens, performs "Haz de Luz" with the duo, which according to Dayamí, is a beautiful composition "that sings to life and love with a beautiful and fresh poetry".

Specialists and musicologists agree that the musical production of the album has respected the essence of the couple in each arrangement, maintaining its acoustic sonority, while at the same time incorporating electronic harmonies, thus promoting a balance between the arrangements and the conscientious way of working the tones of all the guest musicians.

Yoel Martinez, in conversation with the press, about the release of the album, confessed that from the first time he heard the musical duo, it was "an Oasis", at a time when many artists opt for commercial music, and yet the pair prioritizes what they are passionate about, themes that speak of real life; "that made me fall in love, convinced me and I decided to help them realize their project," confessed the producer of Mi suerte and added:

«En este disco minimalista, cada uno de los invitados respetó la poesía, la ternura, lo sutil y lo bonito que Dayamí y Javier logran interpretar en sus canciones, y tratamos de que los arreglos no estropearan esa carga de emociones».

En la presentación del disco, Dayamí y Javier, agradecieron la oportunidad que les brindó la Oficina del Historiador de la Ciudad de poder contar con el «mágico» espacio que es la Basílica Menor del Convento de San Francisco de Asís, y dedicaron dicha presentación al doctor Eusebio Leal «por amar con mucha pasión a La Habana y al arte».

Dayamí es de la Isla de la Juventud, y Javier es habanero, por tanto los traslados entre ambos puntos de la isla son parte de la vida de estos jóvenes, y precisamente Iris es el nombre del catamarán en que viajaban; a propósito han revelado: "In this minimalist album, each of the guests respected the poetry, the tenderness, the subtle and the beautiful that Dayamí and Javier manage to interpret in their songs, and we tried to make sure that the arrangements did not spoil that load of emotions".

At the presentation of the album, Dayamí and Javier thanked the Office of the Historian of the City for giving them the opportunity to have the "magical" space that is the Basílica Menor del Convento de San Francisco de Asís, and dedicated the presentation to Dr. Eusebio Leal "for loving Havana and art with great passion".

Dayamí is from Isla de la Juventud, and Javier is from Havana, therefore transfers between both points of the island are part of the life of these young artists, and precisely Iris is the name of the catamaran in which they traveled; by the way they have revealed: 54

«Nos encantó encontrar que, además de Iris es quien da el color y permite la entrada de luz a los ojos en la mitología griega, era la que le enviaba a los seres humanos el mensaje de los dioses. Ella crea su arco de colores para decirles a los humanos que la lluvia ha cesado (…) es exactamente lo que queremos hacer con nuestra música, llevar nuestro mensaje a través de otra mirada, a través de otros colores».

Con siete años de creado, el Dúo Iris, tiene absoluta claridad de cuáles son sus intereses musicales y artísticos: Dayamí y Javier cantan al amor y a la vida y con la utilización de imágenes poco convencionales, arman su propia poesía de vida, hecha y sentida a cuatro manos y dos corazones que, latiendo el unísono, tejen su universo musical y personal.

Entre los reconocimientos que atesora el Dúo Iris, figura el segundo premio obtenido en el concurso Adolfo Guzmán en 2019, y el gran premio del Festival de canta autores del Instituto Superior de Arte.

"We were delighted to find that, besides Iris is the one who gives color and allows light to enter the eyes in Greek mythology, she was the one who sent to human beings the message of the gods. She creates her arc of colors to tell humans that the rain has stopped (...) that is exactly what we want to do with our music, to bring our message through another look, through other colors".

With seven years of creation, the Duo Iris, has absolute clarity of what their musical and artistic interests are: Dayamí and Javier sing to love and life and with the use of unconventional images, they assemble their own poetry of life, made and felt by four hands and two hearts that, beating in unison, weave their musical and personal universe.

En las instalaciones turísticas cubanas y otras unidades de servicio, los precios están fijados en pesos cubanos convertibles (CUC).

Se aceptan las tarjetas de crédito siempre que NO sean emitidas por bancos estadounidenses ni sus sucursales en otros países.

El visitante a nuestro país debe poseer un pasaporte vigente y la correspondiente visa o Tarjeta de Turista. Se exceptúan los países con los que Cuba mantiene convenios de libre visado. Las Tarjetas de Turista pueden solicitarse antes las representaciones consulares cubanas. También en las agencias de viajes y líneas aéreas.

Al llegar a la aduana, se entiende por turista aquella persona no residente permanentemente en el país, independientemente de su nacionalidad, que entre al mismo por razones de placer, negocio, salud, deporte, por un periodo mayor de 24 horas y menor de 6 meses.

Los turistas podrán importar sus efectos personales, los que entran al país como una admisión temporal; libres del pago de derecho de aduanas y deben ser reexportados a su salida.

EL TURISTA PUEDE EXPORTAR: Hasta veinte (20) unidades de tabaco torcido sueltos, sin necesidad de presentar ningún documento. Hasta cincuenta ( 50) unidades de tabaco torcido, con la condición que estén contenidos en el envases originales, cerrado, sellado y con el holograma oficial establecido, exigencias sin las cuales no se autoriza la exportación.

Cantidad en exceso de cincuenta (50) unidades de tabaco torcido, las cuales no pueden exceder el valor de los 5,000.00 CUC, deben presentar la factura de venta oficial expedida por la red de tiendas autorizadas a comercializar tabacos torcidos cubanos, correspondiente a todo el tabaco torcido que intenten extraer y que necesariamente tiene que estar contenidos en envases originales, cerrados y sellados y con el holograma oficial establecido.

Las cantidades de tabaco torcido en exceso de las cincuentas (50) unidades que no sea declarado por el viajero y cualquier cantidad que exceda lo declarado, o que habiéndose declarado no se acredite su adquisición lícita mediante la factura de venta oficial o los envases no posean los atributos y demás exigencias que lo identifican como tabaco torcido cubano, dará lugar al decomiso.

De igual forma podrá llevar hasta 3 botellas de licor y 200 cigarrillos, Souvenirs o recuerdos de su estancia en el país.
