REGISTRAN FÁRMACO CUBANO HEBERPROT-P EN COREA DEL SUR
Recientemente fue registrado en Corea del Sur el fármaco cubano Heberprot-P, única terapia para la cicatrización efectiva de las úlceras del pie diabético con el que se ha tratado a más de 132 mil pacientes en 20 países. Este medicamento, desarrollado y diseñado por el Centro de Ingeniería Genética y Biotecnología, para una necesidad médica no resuelta, se administra directamente en los tejidos dañados, generando una granulación acelerada de las lesiones; reduce el riesgo de amputación y favorece la cicatrización de heridas complejas y úlceras isquémicas. Con anterioridad, este producto fue aplicado en Eslovaquia, primer país de la Unión Europea en utilizarlo con un impacto positivo en casi la totalidad de los pacientes.
Cuban drug Heberprot-P registered in South Korea
The Cuban drug Heberprot-P, the only therapy for the effective healing of diabetic foot ulcers, which has treated more than 132,000 patients in 20 countries, was recently registered in South Korea. This drug, developed and designed by the Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology, to address an unresolved medical need, is administered directly into the damaged tissues, generating accelerated granulation of the lesions; it reduces the risk of amputation and favors the healing of complex wounds and ischemic ulcers. Previously, this product was applied in Slovakia, the first country in the European Union to use it, with a positive impact on almost all patients.
JUSVINZA: FÁRMACO EFECTIVO CONTRA LA ARTRITIS REUMATOIDE Y OTRAS ENFERMEDADES
El péptido inmunoregulador cubano Jusvinza, desarrollado por el Centro de Ingeniería Genética y Biotecnología, favorecerá por su producción y aplicación masiva, a más de 136 mil cubanas y cubanos que actualmente padecen de artritis reumatoide. El producto biotecnológico ha probado ser efectivo en esta enfermedad crónica irreversible, que erosiona cartílagos y huesos, contra la hiperinflamación, y demostró beneficios también en el tratamiento de la COVID-19. Este año podría comenzar la fase III del ensayo clínico de Jusvinza, en la cual intervendrán 66 mil personas que padecen artritis reumatoide, es decir el cincuenta por ciento de los cubanos aquejados de esta enfermedad, cuya prevalencia mundial se acerca al uno por ciento de la población del planeta y afecta principalmente a las mujeres.
Jusvinza: Effective drug for rheumatoid arthritis and other diseases
The Cuban immunoregulatory peptide Jusvinza, developed by the Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology, will benefit more than 136,000 Cubans currently suffering from rheumatoid arthritis through its production and massive application. The biotechnological product has proven to be effective in this irreversible chronic disease, which erodes cartilage and bones, against hyperinflammation, and has also shown benefits in the treatment of COVID-19. Phase III of Jusvinza's clinical trial could begin this year, which will involve 66,000 people suffering from rheumatoid arthritis, that is, fifty percent of Cubans suffering from this disease, whose worldwide prevalence is close to one percent of the world's population and mainly affects women.
La Convención Internacional Cuba-Salud 2022 y su Feria Comercial Salud para Todos, tendrá lugar entre los días 17 y 21 del mes de octubre del presente año, en el Palacio de Convenciones de La Habana bajo el lema «Salud Universal, como parte de la Agenda Salud 2030 en el escenario post COVID-19». Sus propósitos esenciales son exponer y debatir los modelos de enfrentamiento a la COVID-19 a nivel global, así como intercambiar experiencias sobre las temáticas más actualizadas del sector. La Feria Comercial Salud para Todos 2022, sesionará en el recinto ferial capitalino Pabexpo y reunirá representantes de empresas, universidades y firmas especializadas del patio y foráneas, interesados en establecer alianzas comerciales y fomentar las relaciones en este ámbito.
The Cuba-Salud 2022 International Convention and its Salud para Todos Trade Fair will take place between October 17th and 21st of this year at the Havana Convention Center under the slogan "Universal Health, as part of the Health 2030 Agenda in the postCOVID-19 scenario". Its main purposes are to expose and debate the models to face COVID-19 at a global level, as well as to exchange experiences on the most updated topics of the sector. The Salud para Todos 2022 Trade Fair will be held at the capital's Pabexpo expo center and will bring together representatives of companies, universities and specialized firms from Cuba and abroad, interested in establishing commercial alliances and fostering relations in this field..

VIAJE AL CENTRO DE CUBA
Enclavada en las inmediaciones del centro geográfico del archipiélago, Santa Clara es la capital de la provincia Villa Clara. Una ciudad que cobra vida, marcada por la historia y su emblemática arquitectura; constituye un polo científico y es escenario cultural e industrial del país.
El Parque Leoncio Vidal, corazón de la ciudad
El viajero que arriba a Santa Clara y desea conocer su historia y visitar sus edificios más alegóricos, debe hacer una parada obligatoria en el Parque Leoncio Vidal. Esta emblemática plaza, ubicada en el centro histórico de la ciudad, alberga lo mejor de la arquitectura colonial del municipio y es símbolo de la cultura e identidad del pueblo villaclareño. En su interior se conservan monumentos y estatuas de gran relevancia y valor patrimonial, como el Obelisco, la Fuente del niño de la bota infortunada, el monumento realizado a Marta Abreu, destacada benefactora de la ciudad y el busto dedicado al Coronel Leoncio Vidal Caro, quien cayera en combate defendiendo su patria de forma heroica, y cuyo nombre bautiza el Parque. En una esquina de la plaza se encuentra el Hotel Santa Clara Libre, que constituye la construcción más elevada de la ciudad, en su fachada aún se observan las huellas de disparos que tuvieron lugar durante la lucha de los guerrilleros contra las fuerzas del régimen de Batista.
Santa Clara, trip to the center of Cuba

Leoncio Vidal Park, heart of the city
The traveler who arrives in Santa Clara and wishes to know its history and visit its most allegorical buildings, must make an obligatory stop at Leoncio Vidal Park. This emblematic square, located in the historic center of the city, houses the best of the colonial architecture of the municipality and is a symbol of the culture and identity of the people of Santa Clara. In its interior are preserved monuments and statues of great relevance and patrimonial value, such as the Obelisk, the Fountain of the child of the unfortunate boot, the monument made to Marta Abreu, outstanding benefactor of the city and the bust dedicated to Colonel Leoncio Vidal Caro, who fell in combat defending his homeland in a heroic way, and whose name baptizes the Park. In a corner of the square is the Hotel Santa Clara Libre, which is the tallest building in the city, on its facade you can still see the traces of gunshots that took place during the guerrilla fight against the forces of the Batista regime.
Las vistas de su restaurante, en el décimo piso, son ideales para tener una visión panorámica de la ciudad y relajarse mientras se toma un buen café. Por su valor inmaterial y la colosal mezcla de edificaciones de la época colonial, neocolonial y revolucionaria; el Parque Leoncio Vidal y sus alrededores han sido declarados: Monumento Nacional. Entre sus edificaciones encontramos el Teatro de la Caridad, de estilo colonial, en excelente estado de conservación, el cual comenzó a ofrecer espectáculos en el año 1885. Este ha sido uno de los espacios más importantes de la actividad artística en el país; por sus escenarios han desfilado importantes compañías de renombre mundial. En el Parque se alza también el majestuoso Palacio Provincial de Gobierno, construido entre 1904 y 1912, su corte neoclásico confluye con diferentes estilos. El inmueble cumplió su objetivo como sede del Gobierno Provincial, hasta la década del 70, cuando fue convertido en la Biblioteca “Martí”. Sus puertas están abiertas para aquellos que quieran adentrarse en el patrimonio bibliográfico de la provincia.
El Boulevard, la calle peatonal más concurrida
Cerca del Parque Vidal se encuentra el Boulevard de Santa Clara, que con aires de modernidad recibe al visitante. Considerado una de las arterias más concurridas de la capital provincial, el sitio posee una extensión lineal de 350 metros. En sus alrededores confluyen variedad de negocios y comercios donde se puede ir de compras, disfrutar una comida o trago y tomarse un descanso luego de un día de paseo por la ciudad. El diseño del Boulevard está enfocado hacia la sustentabilidad, destaca el respeto hacia las áreas verdes y la ambientación natural, así como, el rescate a los sitios que son patrimonio cultural de la urbe.
The views from its restaurant, on the tenth floor, are ideal to have a panoramic view of the city and relax while having a good coffee. For its immaterial value and the colossal mixture of buildings from the colonial, neo-colonial and revolutionary periods, Leoncio Vidal Park and its surroundings have been declared a National Monument. Among its buildings we find the Teatro de la Caridad, of colonial style, in excellent conservation state, which began to offer shows in the year 1885. This has been one of the most important spaces of the artistic activity in the country; important companies of world-wide renown have performed on its stages. In the Park also stands the majestic Provincial Palace of Government, built between 1904 and 1912, its neoclassical style blends with different styles. The building served its purpose as the seat of the Provincial Government until the 1970s, when it was converted into the "Martí" Library. Its doors are open to those who wish to delve into the bibliographic heritage of the province.
The Boulevard, the busiest pedestrian street
Near Vidal Park is the Boulevard of Santa Clara, which welcomes visitors with an air of modernity. Considered one of the busiest arteries of the provincial capital, the site has a linear extension of 350 meters. In its surroundings there are a variety of businesses and stores where you can go shopping, enjoy a meal or a drink and take a break after a day of sightseeing around the city. The Boulevard's design is focused on sustainability, respecting the green areas and the natural environment, as well as rescuing the city's cultural heritage sites.
Oasis cultural, el Mejunje
Un lugar que da cabida a todos los estilos y personas; así se denomina al Mejunje, centro cultural multifacético que se encuentra en el centro de la ciudad. Esta institución abre sus puertas todos los días y ofrece a sus visitantes una cartelera variada que abarca peñas habituales de diferentes géneros y para todas las edades. El Mejunje ofrece la combinación perfecta entre un teatro, un café y una galería de arte. Un sitio perfecto para recrearse y disfrutar de algún refrigerio.
La Ciudad del Che Guevara
Santa Clara es también conocida como “la ciudad del Che”. El triunfo definitivo de la Revolución Cubana hubiese sido imposible sin el rol del guerrillero y su Columna. La Batalla de Santa Clara que tuvo lugar en diciembre de 1958, consagró al Che como un héroe para los villaclareños y el pueblo cubano en general. En 1988 fue inaugurado en la ciudad un Mausoleo en su memoria. Millones de viajeros foráneos han visitado a lo largo de los años los restos del Comandante, que allí descansan. El complejo incluye también un cementerio donde reposan los combatientes del Frente de Las Villas, además una gran escultura de bronce del Che y un museo donde se exponen algunos efectos personales y prendas de su uniforme verde olivo.
Cultural oasis, the Mejunje
A place that accommodates all styles and people; this is the name given to the Mejunje, a multifaceted cultural venue located in the center of the city. The City of Che Guevara
Santa Clara is also known as "the city of Che". The definitive triumph of the Cuban Revolution would have been impossible without the role of the guerrilla fighter and his Column. The Battle of Santa Clara, which took place in December 1958, consecrated Che as a hero for the villaclareños and the Cuban people in general. In 1988, a mausoleum in his memory was inaugurated in the city. Over the years, millions of foreign travelers have visited the Comandante's remains, which rest there. The complex also includes a cemetery where the fighters of the Front of Las Villas rest, as well as a large bronze sculpture of Che and a museum where some of his personal effects and pieces of his olive green uniform are exhibited.
