EXPOSICIÓN ILUMINANDO LA PLÁSTICA ARTÍSTICOS DUETOS DE COLOR Y LUZ

La exposición Iluminando la plástica, concebida por el artesano cubano Francisco Javier Suárez, y que se prestigia con las obras de reconocidos creadores de las artes visuales en el país, está abierta al público en el Centro de Prensa Internacional de El Vedado habanero. Los artistas de la plástica que intervienen en la muestra son Alberto Lescay, Eduardo Roca (Choco) y Nelson Domínguez, poseedores del Premio Nacional de Artes Plásticas, así como, los destacados y populares virtuosos, Flora Fong, Zaida del Río y Ernesto García Peña. Iluminando la plástica, exhibe una amplia diversidad de colores, formas, luces, expresividad, sugerencias, y referentes ideoestéticos, entre otros elementos que componen el universo creativo de los artistas que en la misma intervienen. Estos artífices, han aportado al conjunto expositivo sus sellos personales; desde sus visiones particulares del color y la luz, y sus discursos poéticos, han tocado con magia lámparas y mamparas realizadas por el experimentado artesano, convirtiéndolas así en extraordinarios ejemplos de artísticos duetos, que presentan al visitante la óptica y experiencia estética de firmas que por sí mismas constituyen garantía de alto vuelo estético en el universo de las artes visuales, y en los que se reconoce la impronta de cada uno de estos maestros.

Illuminating the Plastic Arts Exhibition: Artistic duets of color and light

The exhibition Illuminating the Plastic Arts, conceived by Cuban artisan Francisco Javier Suarez and featuring the works of renowned creators of the visual arts in the country, is open to the public at the International Press Center in Havana's Vedado neighborhood. The plastic artists involved in the exhibition are Alberto Lescay, Eduardo Roca (Choco) and Nelson Dominguez, holders of the National Plastic Arts Award, as well as the outstanding and popular virtuosos Flora Fong, Zaida del Rio and Ernesto Garcia Peña. Illuminating the plastic arts, exhibits a wide diversity of colors, shapes, lights, expressiveness, suggestions, and ideo-aesthetic references, among other elements that make up the creative universe of the artists involved in it. These artists have brought to the exhibition their personal stamps; from their particular visions of color and light, and their poetic discourses, they have touched with magic lamps and screens made by the experienced craftsman, turning them into extraordinary examples of artistic duets, which present to the visitor the optics and aesthetic experience of signatures that by themselves constitute a guarantee of high aesthetic level in the universe of the visual arts, and in which the imprint of each of these masters is recognized.

El interesante proyecto, es una idea de Suárez de conjunto con el artista y crítico de arte Manuel López Oliva, quien creó la primera mampara vitrálica, y con quien organizó una muestra inicial de este concepto, como parte del programa de la Bienal de La Habana del año 2019, en la Galería Manos de la Asociación Cubana de Artesanos Artistas, bajo el nombre de Entre luces y mamparas. López Oliva ha declarado que esta experiencia constituyó un reto, ya que fue necesario adecuarse a una técnica nueva caracterizada por el uso de instrumentos que se colocan a mitad de camino entre el pincel chino y el plumón. Manuel López Oliva, multifacético creador, es autor también de las palabras del catálogo de la exposición Iluminando la plástica, y en las mismas asevera: «Ahí, en la estructura armada por Francisco Javier, envuelta en cada caso por espectrales fragmentos de vidrio, están los reconocidos imaginarios: manchas con pretensiones antropológicas, visiones lineales de limpio sensualismo, contrapunto entre fiesta del color y caligrafía china, pintura de la materia y del gesto, además de una poética visual en que naturaleza y pasión se conjugan».

This fascinating project is the brainchild of Suarez together with artist and art critic Manuel Lopez Oliva, who created the first glass screen, and with whom he organized an initial exhibition of this concept as part of the 2019 Havana Biennial program, at the Manos Gallery of the Cuban Association of Artisan Artists, under the name Entre luces y mamparas (Between Lights and Screens). Lopez Oliva has declared that this experience constituted a challenge, as it was necessary to adapt to a new technique characterized by the use of instruments that are placed halfway between the Chinese brush and the pen. Manuel López Oliva, multifaceted creator, is also the author of the catalog of the exhibition, and in it he states: "There, in the structure assembled by Francisco Javier, wrapped in each instance by spectral shards of glass, are the recognized imaginary: spots with anthropological pretensions, linear visions of clean sensualism, counterpoint between color party and Chinese calligraphy, painting of matter and gesture, plus a visual poetics in which nature and passion are combined".

Francisco Javier Suárez, es maestro vitralero especializado en la técnica de emplomado, la cual perfeccionó con estudios en Alemania y el Reino Unido, y aplicó a los diseños originales de los artistas que lo acompañan. Con una larga y destacada trayectoria, Suárez ha contribuido a la belleza de ambientaciones artísticas de más de 30 hoteles, restaurantes, tiendas e instituciones en la mayor de las Antillas, con sus piezas siempre en experimentación y búsqueda de la luz. Iluminando la plástica, es el resultado de la alianza entre el Fondo Cubano de Bienes Culturales, el Centro de Prensa Internacional y el Taller Estudio Sausand, y demuestra que las relaciones entre artesanía y artes plásticas, signadas por la calidad, devienen propuesta de alto nivel artístico y creativo que conquista siempre el favor del público y la crítica especializada. Esta exposición marca el inicio de los espacios de la Dirección General de Prensa, Comunicación e Imagen, en función de la diplomacia cultural, en el Centro de Prensa Internacional del Minrex, que se encuentra en la calle 23, número 152, esquina a O, en El Vedado habanero, y estará abierta hasta el mes de abril para disfrute de los amantes del buen arte pictórico y artesanal.

Francisco Javier Suárez is a master stained glass artist specialized in the leaded technique, which he perfected with studies in Germany and the United Kingdom, and applied to the original designs of the artists who accompany him. With a long and outstanding career, Suarez has contributed to the beauty of artistic settings of more than 30 hotels, restaurants, stores and institutions in the largest of the Antilles, with his pieces always experimenting and searching for light. Illuminating the plastic arts is the result of the alliance between the Cuban Fund for Cultural Goods, the International Press Center and the Estudio Sausand Workshop, and shows that the relationship between craftsmanship and plastic arts, marked by quality, become a proposal of high artistic and creative level that always conquers the favor of the public and the specialized critics. This exhibition marks the beginning of the spaces of the General Directorate of Press, Communication and Image, in function of cultural diplomacy, in the International Press Center of the Minrex, which is located on 23rd Street, number 152, corner of O, in Havana's Vedado, and will be open until April for the enjoyment of lovers of good pictorial and handicraft art.
