BOLERO A LA VIDA Omara Portuondo es una nonagenaria cantante cubana, una artista integral imprescindible para acompañar historias de la cultura nacional. Nacida el 29 de octubre de 1930 en La Habana, a sus 91 años continúa con una vitalidad envidiable. Su voz forma parte de la banda sonora de varias generaciones de cubanos y personas de todo el mundo por su manera de cantar y contar la vida. Con su presencia narra, recrea épocas pasadas y marca aún la contemporaneidad con suma vitalidad en sus cualidades vocales y destreza en todos los ámbitos en los que se inserta. La Portuondo es reconocida también como la Diva del Buena Vista Social Club, agrupación de la cual fue una de sus iniciales integrantes y que en este 2021 celebra 25 años de su primer concierto en público. Junto a otros grandes como Ibrahím Ferrer, Papi Oviedo y Rubén González, también íconos de cubanía en todo el mundo, reposicionaron el gusto por nuestra música tradicional y popular. No obstante, antes del Buena Vista ya Omara contaba con una consolidada carrera en varios estilos que le dieron credenciales para ser nombrada también la novia del feeling. En su repertorio ha sido constante la presencia de boleros. Son inolvidables sus interpretaciones de temas como Veinte años de María Teresa Vera, Dos gardenias de Isolina Carrillo, Silencio de Rafael Hernández, Lo que me queda por vivir de Alberto Vera, No puedo ser feliz de Adolfo Guzmán, por solo citar algunos. No obstante, actualmente el nombre de Omara vuelve a ubicar titulares a ritmo de bolero. Esta vez junto a la joven cantante y compositora guatemalteca Gaby Moreno, autora junto a Santiago Larramendi de la letra y música de Bolero a la vida. Una vez más se unen en una obra musical las tradiciones de dos naciones tan unidas históricamente. Es una canción optimista, que conjuga juventud y experiencia y exhibe parte de los sonidos diversos que convergen en esta parte de América. Las sonoridades de las cuerdas pulsadas, el piano, las claves y el perfecto empaste vocal de ambas intérpretes, recrea y actualiza una tradición arraigada en ambas orillas.

Omara Portuondo is a nonagenarian Cuban singer, an integral artist essential to complement stories of the national culture. Born on October 29th, 1930 in Havana, at 91 years old she continues with an enviable vitality. Her voice is part of the soundtrack of several generations of Cubans and people around the world for her way of singing and relating life. With her presence she narrates, recreates past times and still marks the contemporary with great vitality in her vocal qualities and dexterity in all the areas in which she performs. Portuondo is also recognized as the Diva of the Buena Vista Social Club, a group of which she was one of the first members and which in 2021 celebrates 25 years since its first public presentation. Along with other greats such as Ibrahím Ferrer, Papi Oviedo and Rubén González, also icons of Cuban music around the world, she repositioned the taste for our traditional and popular music. However, before Buena Vista, Omara already had a consolidated career in several styles that gave her credentials to be named also the bride of feeling music. In her repertoire there has been a constant presence of boleros. Unforgettable are her interpretations of songs such as Veinte años by María Teresa Vera, Dos gardenias by Isolina Carrillo, Silencio by Rafael Hernández, Lo que me queda por vivir by Alberto Vera, No puedo ser feliz by Adolfo Guzmán, just to mention a few. However, currently Omara's name is once again making headlines with bolero rhythms. This time together with the young Guatemalan singer and composer Gaby Moreno, author with Santiago Larramendi of the lyrics and music of Bolero a la vida. Once again, the traditions of two historically linked nations are united in a musical work. It is an optimistic song, which combines youth and experience and exhibits part of the diverse sounds that converge in this part of America. The sonorities of the plucked strings, the piano, the claves and the perfect vocal blend of both artists, recreates and updates a tradition rooted in both shores.
