Students join together to create
75 Thanksgiving baskets
The Bellmore-Merrick Broadcasting Program is a district-wide program for students who attend Calhoun, Kennedy, or Mepham High School and are interested in the broadcasting industry. Riley Fried and Ava Scheffler bring
you episode 2 of the BMB's acclaimed Midweek Update. This week's packages were created by the BCIII class and focus on Mental Health, the Bellmore Braves, The Community Cupboard and what it is like to play together with your brother on a Pirates team.
Bellmore-Merrick Central High School District’s Student Ambassadors gathered together on Nov. 19 at Brookside to pack 75 Thanksgiving baskets for local families in need. Led by adviser Josephine Parlagreco, students in the Wellington C. Mepham High School Leo Club made pies while social studies teacher Jackie Geller and students decorated place mats. Merrick Avenue Middle School’s family and consumer sciences teacher Carly Gould and students made corn bread. Sanford H. Calhoun High School special
education teacher Lisa Loonie and students packaged bags. “I cannot say enough about how hard the kids were working,” said Deputy Superintendent Dr. Mara Bollettieri.
