Nassau County Clerk Maureen O’Connell’s Office and the Nassau Council of Chambers of Commerce announce the “Shop Local” campaign for the 2019 holiday season highlighting the Veterans Recognition Discount Program.
Julie Marchesella, past president and legislative chair person for the Nassau Council of Chambers of Commerce, hosted the press conference at Queen of Hearts, her woman’s plus size retail store on Merrick Avenue in Merrick.

Community retail and service businesses honor Veterans by participating in the Veterans Discount Program giving thanks to our Veterans. For a list of stores and services providing discounts to veterans visit https:/ www. nassaucountyny.gov/3234/Veterans-Recognition-Program.

Julie reminded residents to keep their purchases local this holiday season and all other times. The local businesses offer a plethora of goods and services and by shopping local the sales tax collected is returned to you in many including services like garbage removal, snow plowing and care of parks and landscaping. She said, “The downtown small businesses are the ones that support the PTA, Little League and religious organizations all year round, so please support us during this holiday season”.
