Många tester och försök före leverans av Eldenhet 98 Tyska Diehl Defence är systemleverantör till luftvärnets nya verkansystem Eldenhet 98. Hur har Diehl arbetat med utvecklingen och utprovningen av systemet? Detta beskrivs översiktligt av Diehls Stefan Matzka. “High-tech weapons such as the Swedish air defence-system Eldenhet 98 must be up to the manifold challenges of longterm use even under extreme climatic conditions because soldiers deserve to be provided with optimal equipment during their missions. Therefore weapon systems are subjected to numerous and complex tests. The ML-98 launcher developed by Diehl also had to pass extensive tests prior to delivery. Material fatigue, for example, had to be analyzed to guarantee long service life of the launcher. For this purpose, the finite element method (FEM), a numerical procedure for strength and deformation analysis of solids, was used based on the results from driving tests carried out at the Federal Armed Forces Technical Center 41 in Trier, Germany. 28
Protecting components During these tests, ML-98 was equipped with sensors for vibration measurement and was strained to its limits on the carrier vehicle Bv 410 from BAE Systems Hägglunds. The results were included in the analyses and contributed to optimization of the launcher design. However, that's not all. The impact of an IRIS-T guided missile during launch on the overall system had to be analyzed. Particular attention was paid to the enormous heat development during rocket motor burn. The following question arose: Which components are affected and should be protected, if required?
