Thermometer is still reading above average

The Bureau of Meteorology is predicting more above average temperatures for the week ahead. The July daytime average temperature for Cobar is 16 degrees and every day for the next week is expected to exceed 16. Today, tomorrow and Friday should be mostly sunny days with all expected to reach a top of 21 degrees. There is a possible chance of a shower on Friday (0-1mm). Saturday will be partly cloudy with a top of 19 while 20 degrees is the expected top for Sunday and also Monday. Our daytime temperatures last week were quite varied according to the Bureau. Last Wednesday had a minimum of 4.2 before reaching a maximum of 16.4 degrees. Thursday started off at a chilly –0.9 degrees before the mercury reached a top of 16.4. Friday’s maximum was 15.6 after an overnight low of 8.6 degrees and there was also some rain with 2.8mm recorded in the town’s gauge. Saturday was our chilliest morning of the week when the thermometer dropped to just -0.8 before reaching a top daytime temperature of 14.5. Sunday’s minimum was 5.4 degrees before a top of 14.3. Monday’s low was 1.4 before it warmed up to a top of 18 degrees.

Working with terrazzo

Cobar Shire Library Adult Craft participants Jenny Ilett (Library staff member Bek Donaldson), Jill Weaving, Joan Maiden and Julianne Foster drying off their terrazzo trays on Saturday at the Library. Participants were shown how to make a terazzo tray using a moulding process where they made their own terazzo colour chips and then set them in a jesmonite mould. When dry, the crafters were then going to sand their trays back to reveal their unique, beautiful patterns.
