Familiar face is welcomed to the Golfie admin team
from TCW 260723
Cobar Bowling & Golf Club secretary manager Jason Howell said it was great to welcome Lauren to the team.
With both Chris Brown and Sandra Russell planning on retiring later this year, Lauren and Karen Daly, who’s been with us for a few months, will be taking over,” Jason said.
Lauren brings many years of administration experience to the role having previously worked for construction and accounting firms in the Newcastle/Maitland area.
Lauren and husband John, left Cobar at the end of 2006, and have recently returned to live in Cobar with their two boys.
For the past 16 and a half years the family has been living a very busy life in the Newcastle/Maitland area and Lauren said they were pleased to be able to come back to Cobar to be closer to family.
Lauren said they also wanted to give their boys the experience of getting some red dirt between their toes.
Living a slower pace of life that Cobar offers also appealed to them.

She said the boys are loving visiting Drummond Park, the skate park and the youth centre and are also enjoying the freedom of being able to ride their bikes to school.
Both boys play a lot of sport including soccer, touch and basketball and are now trying out rugby league.
Lauren said she hopes to be able to join the local netball competition next season.
We are enjoying it so far, we’re still settling in and catching up with people,” Lauren said.
It’s funny meeting people who were children when we left and have grown up and now have children of their own,” she said.
Female driver charged with Mid Range PCA
A 24 year old Cobar woman will appear before Cobar Local Court later this month to answer the charge of driving with Mid Range PCA (prescribed concentration of alcohol).
Police stopped a vehicle in Bathurst Street at around 11.30pm on Saturday night for the purpose of a random breath test. The roadside breath test gave a positive reading.
The 24 year old driver was arrested and conveyed to Cobar Police Station for the purpose of a breath analysis.
As a result she was issued with a Field Court Attendance Notice to appear at Cobar Local Court later this month for the offence of Drive with Middle Range Prescribed Concentration of Alcohol.
Minor altercation
Further investigations into last week’s bar fight at a local hotel that occurred on Saturday July 15 have found the fight was only a minor altercation.
Following further police investigations last week, it was determined the fight between two males inside the hotel had only been a minor dispute.
One male appears to have been pushed against the front door, causing the glass to smash.
No charges have been laid.
