Police locate drugs in two vehicle searches

Cobar Police located drugs and also a weapon in two separate vehicle searches last week.
A 64 year old man was found to be in possession of a small amount of cannabis after police had cause to stop the vehicle he was driving in Marshall Street last Tuesday just before 3pm.
The cannabis was found following a search of the vehicle.
As a result, the man was issued with a Court Attendance Notice to appear at Cobar Local Court next month for the offence of Possess Prohibited Drug.
The following day, police arrested a 61 year old man after they found drugs and a weapon during a vehicle search around 1pm on Wednesday in Linsley Street.
The driver, a 61 year old male, underwent a roadside drug test which gave a positive indication to prohibited drugs.
Following a search of the vehicle and the driver, police located a small amount of cannabis and a large knife.
The driver was arrested and conveyed to Cobar Police Station where he underwent a secondary drug test which was sent for analysis
Police investigations are continuing.

Last week at their annual changeover dinner, the Rotary Club of Cobar announced they would be making a number of donations to local and regional community groups including the Cobar Girl Guides. Rotarians Therese and Gordon Hill officially presented the Cobar Girl Guides with their donation of $2,500 on Monday at the Cobar Youth & Community Centre.
