CHERRY YUM YUM

• ¾ c. sugar

• 2 pkg’s Dream Whip

• 1 c. cold milk

• 1 ½ sticks of margarine

• 3 c. graham cracker crumbs Recipe of the Month

• 2 can cherry pie filling

• 1 8oz. pkg. cream cheese

Melt margarine and mix with graham cracker crumbs. Use half of the crumb mixture to form pie shell. Mix Dream Whip with milk and whip. Once whipped, add sugar and cream cheese.

Use half of the Dream Whip mixture and add to pie shell. Add cherry pie filling. Add the other half of the Dream whip mixture. Add the other half of graham cracker crumb mixture on top.

Kayrene Galatian

I’d like to start the month off by introducing myself to you, your resort manager. My name is Kayrene Galatian. To many I am no strange, as I have been the sales agent here at Indian Skies for 16 months.

I’m excited to have the opportunity. Let’s get the positive energy flowing and always be kind to your neighbor. Check on one another as these hot summer months approach, so that we stay cool and hydrated.

During the summer months a lot of activities have slowed down, if you want to play cards or any games call your neighbors, see if they want to play as well. The office has a list of members that stay during the summer months with phone numbers and unit #’s.

The summer months also give us a chance to give the resort some much needed TLC. You may have seen a cleaning company doing some deep cleaning around the Rec Hall, bathrooms, craft room, library, billiard room, and office.

Guzman Fence built a great fence for our Fur Babies to run, jump, stretch out off leash. Some breathing room. We love all the Fur Babies and hope you enjoy the extra space.

KAYRENE’S SALES CORNER

This gem won’t last long so hurry and come take a look while you still can.

TONYA AND DON LEAVING...

Don and Tonya took on the job of Mangers when Cobblestone took over the ownership of Indian Skies. They have done an amazing job throughout the last 3 ½ years. They quickly learned the craft of running the park smoothly whilst impressing residents with their willingness to help with even the smallest requests, and their honesty in dealing with issues. Their enjoyment of their job, and their willingness to integrate into community events ensured that they were adopted as friends by many residents.

Despite his slight frame, Don amazed people with his drive, strength and speed, whenever Tonya directed him to find, fetch, and fix: which soon earned him the nickname of Dongo! Don, go find the mail that’s been delivered to the wrong house, Don, go fix the dryer; Don go find me a stapler… Even people coming into the office would say where did Dongo?

Tonya, a striking purple haired beauty, we soon learned, loved to tell stories, play cards and shop, not in that particular order.

She learned Shanghai over her first long hot summer in the Park. Soon she joined the card players in the hall of an evening, along with her mom Carol, who shares her daughter’s happy outlook and purple hair color.

Playing cards together proved a little too stressful for two related ladies who both love to talk. The other players decided that having them playing on the same table was detrimental to actually completing a game. If they absolutely had to share the same table, Carol was advised by her daughter that she could not talk and only use her finger if she wanted to buy more cards. The card players will surely miss the fun we had with her. Especially whenever Lorri Schultz and Tonya giggled and snorted at their own witticisms!

Like I said, Tonya loves to shop! The job of Manager was ideal for her, because she had a budget and soon spent it on making this place more resident friendly, books, puzzles, games, pool furniture, you name it…if people merely hinted, they got!

Of course, budget constraints soon put an end to that, but we still reap the benefits. Except for one thing… The Hot Dog Machine – little did Tonya realize that the machine does not reheat or cook the hot dogs, merely keeps them warm.

I have one more story to tell you…. Did you know Tonya has a phobia about snakes? Can you imagine how she felt the morning she arrived at the office, only to find a bull snake on the rocks as she stepped down from the cart? Screaming at the top of her lungs, she had resident Clarence fetch a broom handle and beat that thing almost to death, and then Don had to carry it to the dumpster in a plastic bag, before she was able to bring herself to step off that cart.

Funny stories aside, we surely appreciate the huge heart Don and Tonya have had for the well-being of the residents of this Park. So many people loved to spend time with them both in the office and having them over to eat and visit as friends, not just as managers. We will surely miss them both.
