Sebring Village Residents, We are finally moving into the fall season. We welcome September and the beauty of a new season. Our wonderful Social Club has kept everyone entertained indoors, so please don’t miss the upcoming get-togethers and events. See the calendar on page 6 or visit the Hall of Fame in the clubhouse. When using the compactor, please wait until it stops before opening the doors to place your bags inside. Do not press any buttons while it is running. Pressing buttons while it is running has caused damage to the directional valve, leaving the compactor out of order until the part was replaced. Please be patient and wait your turn. I am always very proud to show off our beautiful community! We are still in our rainy season, so please keep in mind that everything grows much faster. Keep your yard free of weeds, and trim all plants and bushes back to an even, maintainable size. Cut below your window ledges and within your landscape beds. Additionally, please remember to register your guests, as we would love to meet your family and friends. We have new over night guest passes and Event only passes - To access the amenities here, they must be registered with the office and have these new passes with them.

9/11 Anniversary Digital Learning Experience Join students and teachers from around the world to commemorate the 25th anniversary of 9/11. by registering for the free 9/11 Anniversary Digital Learning Experience. The program includes a 30-minute film, available on demand, highlighting first-person accounts of the attacks and their aftermath and a live chat with Museum staff throughout the day. The film will be available beginning Friday, September 11, 2026.

Remembrance and Service Now that a quarter century has passed since the September 11, 2001 attacks, 100 million Americans are too young to remember the day that changed our city and nation forever. It is our shared promise made 25 years ago to never forget, so those born after 9/11 learn its significance and enduring legacy. As we commemorate this anniversary, a new generation will learn about the unimaginable loss we experienced and the inspiring stories of bravery, compassion, unity, and service that we witnessed and that have rippled through the decades. 25 years later, we invite you to remember, reflect, and learn with us at the National September 11th Memorial & Museum in lower Manhattan, through our many online programs, or by acting in your own community. Download our anniversary toolkit for opportunities to be part of the 9/11 Memorial & Museum mission in 2026.

On the anniversary of 9/11, the families of victims will gather for a ceremony on the 9/11 Memorial Plaza to read aloud the names of the 2,983 men, women, and children killed in the September 11, 2001 attacks and the February 26, 1993 bombing of the World Trade Center. Six moments of silence will mark the times when each of the World Trade Center towers was struck, when each tower fell, and the times corresponding to the attack at the Pentagon and the crash of United Airlines Flight 93 in Pennsylvania. A seventh moment of silence honoring those lost to 9/11 health effects will be observed following the reading of the names. 9/11 family members will receive details about the private ceremony in mailings this summer. If you are a family member, more information about the 25th anniversary commemoration ceremony is available here. The public may view the ceremony live at 911memorial.org/live and pay tribute at the Memorial when it reopens that afternoon.

Tribute in Light, the two beams of light that evoke the memory of the Twin Towers, is a commemorative public art installation first displayed on the six-month anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. Since then, Tribute in Light, presented in partnership with Con Edison, has appeared in the night sky each 9/11 to honor those killed and shine a light on the unbreakable spirit of New York. Supported by New York City Tourism + Conventions, Tribute in Lights provides a unique opportunity to pay tribute and increase public awareness of the anniversary. Buildings and landmarks throughout New York and across the country are invited to light their facades in blue from dusk to dawn on September 11. Learn more.

Every year, as we commemorate the anniversary, we ask you to join us in active remembrance, inspired by “Trying to Remember the Color of the Sky on that September Morning,” Spencer Finch's iconic artwork in the Museum. Simply take a photo of the sky from wherever you are on September 11th, regardless of the weather. Then, share it on Instagram or the social media platform of your choice with a memory or tribute. Please tag us, and include the hashtags #neverforget911 and #rememberthesky.

Krause Lawn Service

Our lawn service day will start on Tuesday afternoon & finish on Wednesday. Any issues with the lawn service regarding your lot? Please submit a photo with your address in an email to office@sebringvillage.com with a description of the issue, and we will send it to the customer service department to be handled correctly. Thank you!

For those who choose to mow their lawns and put out flags, the flags are to go out on the morning of our lawn service days and come down when they are done. You can’t leave your flags out all the time unless you have new sod down. Please only use red flags & if your flags have faded, replace them with new red flags.

Please Be aware of Chinch Bugs Chinch bug killers Chinch bugs can be effectively killed using targeted insecticides like bifenthrin or lambda-cyhalothrin, or natural methods such as diatomaceous earth and promoting beneficial insects.

Chemical Control

Insecticides are the most direct way to eliminate chinch bugs. Effective active ingredients include bifenthrin and lambda-cyhalothrin, which work on contact and provide residual control for weeks to months. Granular formulations are preferred for lawns because they reach the base of the grass where chinch bugs hide, while liquid concentrates allow precise targeting of infested areas. Popular products include Ortho Bug B Gon Max and BioAdvanced Complete Insect Killer, which can kill existing bugs and, in some cases, provide time-released protection for up to three months. Since pesticides do not always kill eggs, a second application may be necessary several weeks later to target newly hatched bugs.

Preventive Lawn Care Preventing infestations is key. Practices include: Aerating the lawn to reduce soil compaction.

Removing excess thatch to eliminate hiding spots. Using insect-resistant grass varieties, such as endophytic tall fescue or rye grass. Watering deeply but infrequently to maintain soil moisture without overwatering. Avoiding over-fertilization, especially with water-soluble nitrogen, which can attract chinch bugs.

Monitoring and Follow-Up

Check for chinch bugs by using a coffee can test: cut the bottom off a can, press it into the turf, fill it with soapy water, and observe if bugs float to the surface. Repeat treatments as necessary, especially if eggs hatch after the initial application. Healthy, well-maintained grass can tolerate low-level infestations, but stressed lawns are more vulnerable. By combining chemical treatments, natural methods, and preventive lawn care, you can effectively kill chinch bugs and reduce the risk of future infestations.

Water Restrictions for Highlands County Days: Watering is limited to two days per week for our area. Watering on Wednesdays and Saturdays for oddnumbered addresses and Thursdays and Sundays for even-numbered addresses. No watering of established lawns should be done on Mondays, Tuesdays, or Fridays. Time: Watering is prohibited between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Also, there is no need to run your irrigation system when we are receiving heavy rains daily. Fines may be issued for residents watering out of compliance.

COMMUNITY REMINDERS Weeding: Residents are responsible for keeping their flowerbeds, bushes, etc., weeded all year long. Make sure that the landscaping in your lot is manageable for you. Speed limit: The speed limit in the park is 15 miles per hour! We have many walkers, dog walkers, and bicyclists in the park, so please slow down and help everyone stay safe! If you are walking during dark hours, please wear light-colored, reflective clothing and carry a flashlight. Parking: There’s no street parking in Sebring Village unless such parking is for shortterm purposes of one (1) hour or less. We must keep our streets open for our homeowners to get assistance from emergency vehicles at all times. Please ensure that contractors working at your home leave room for vehicles to pass. Clubhouse parking areas are for residents using those facilities, not for overflow guest parking. Others are subject to being towed unless a parking pass has been obtained from the manager. There is no parking in the white striped areas at the clubhouse, and do not block resident driveways. Guests: Guests must be registered in the office. Sales: All prospective buyers and renters need to complete the background application before any final sale or rental and receive approval from our Corporate Office. The office must be notified of any sale or rental before they are final, regardless of whether they are past or current residents or renters. Community paperwork must be completed. All sales will have a 4-sided inspection completed through our Corporate Office to ensure buyers agree to any rule compliance issues. Pet owners: ** Please submit an updated photo of your pet to the office. Please bring in your pet’s current shot records, as we are updating this information. Pets need to be leashed, attended to, and cleaned up after. If you would like your pet featured in the newsletter as Pet of the Month, please send a current photo to the office with a bit of info about your pet. We are receiving complaints about pet owners not following Highlands County laws and community rules. Click here for more information.
