November... Christmas music can offically begin!!

November is such a great time of year, especially since our resident snowbirds are heading back to Florida! Not to mention the fact that the weather is so beautiful this time of year.

We have been busy around the community, pulling up the flowers, planting the new fall flowers, laying new mulch, weeding, and painting.

If you are planning any outside lot improvement projects, such as painting driveways, planting plants, removing plants or trees, etc., then please stop by the office and pick up a Lot Improvement form. Nothing can be done outside your home without prior approval.

To our men and women in uniform, past, present, and future, God bless you and thank you. May we never forget your sacrifices. Happy Veterans Day!

May you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving and enjoy your time with family and friends.

Please stop in at the office if you are returning and say hello!

Until next month,

FunFactsAboutNovember

1. The name November comes from the Latin root novem – meaning “nine.” On the ancient Roman calendar, this made perfect sense because there were only ten months in the year, and November was in fact the ninth month. November was bumped back to the eleventh month of the year, yet stubbornly kept its original name, after the Julian calendar was introduced by Julius Caesar in 46 BC.

2. In Old English, November was called Blotmonth (Blood month) referring to the time of slaughter of farm animals. Whether you are an animal lover or not, I think we all can agree that November is a far less troubling (and gory) way to refer to the month.

3. November 2nd is the only day of the year that two US presidents were born – Warren Harding (born 1865) and James Polk (1795).

4. Speaking of US Presidents, since 1845, all presidential elections have been held on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November in years divisible by four.

5. If you’re like me, some of your earliest financial and real estate lessons were taught from competitive games of Monopoly. Parker Brothers first began selling this property-focused board game on November 5, 1935, and it quickly became a best-selling classic.

6. November has the proud distinction of being the only month to represent a letter in the Alpha-Bravo-Charlie phonetic alphabet.

7. November is also the month for Movember (a combination of the words “Moustache” and November”), a fundraising event focusing on men’s health issues, particularly prostate and testicular cancers. If participating, men start the month with a fresh face and “donate their face” until November 30th by not shaving. So, when you see a co-worker or neighbor growing a new mustache or beard, you’ll know why.

8. What’s my favorite random “holiday” of the month? Your Refrigerator Day on November 15th. The timing couldn’t be better – we all need extra storage space in our refrigerators around Thanksgiving, especially for leftover turkey, dressing and pumpkin pie.

9. Little Women fans rejoice, November marks the birthday of beloved author Louisa May Alcott! Born on November 29, 1832, Louisa would celebrate her 188th birthday this year

10. Here’s another November fact especially of interest to all the bookworms out there. You would be hard pressed to find a reference to the 11th month by Hamlet, Iago, Romeo, Cordelia or any other Shakespearean character. Alas, the Bard includes no mention of November in any of his plays or sonnets.
