Welcome Back to Your Home Away from Home – Seasonal Reminder

Dear Villa Del Sol Residents,

Welcome back to your home away from home! As the season begins, we’re excited to see everyone returning and settling in.

Please stop by the office to say hi and let us know you’ve returned—we’ll mark you as present and make sure everything’s up to date. While you're here, we’ll confirm your contact info and take care of any updates.

Here are a few friendly reminders as we start the season: All exterior improvements must be pre-approved by the office. This includes painting, landscaping changes, and any other updates to your home’s exterior.

Landscaping takes place every Friday, so please plan accordingly. Fridays are not a good day to paint driveways or schedule outdoor work, as it may interfere with the landscapers’ access. It may also undo or damage the hard work you’ve put into maintaining your lot and home.

If you’ve received a Lot Inspection notice, please try to complete the required work by the date listed. I’m now conducting second inspections to confirm that everything has been addressed.

As we take care of these seasonal tasks, it’s hard to believe the holidays are already approaching! Thanksgiving will be here before we know it, and I’m excited to experience the season with all of you.

Banana Pudding Lovers Month: Yes, it’s real

Classic Banana Pudding

Ingredients

¾ cup + 2 tbsp sugar

¼ cup cornstarch

4 large egg yolks

3½ cups whole milk

1½ cups heavy cream

½ tsp salt

2 tbsp unsalted butter

1 tbsp pure vanilla extract

5 large or 7 small bananas, peeled and thinly sliced

44 vanilla wafer cookies (about half an 11-ounce box), plus more crushed cookies for topping

Instructions

Make the Custard

In a bowl, whisk ¼ cup sugar, cornstarch, and egg yolks into a paste. In a saucepan, combine milk, ½ cup sugar, ½ cup cream, and salt. Bring to a simmer.

Slowly whisk the hot milk into the egg mixture, then return to the saucepan. Cook over medium heat, whisking constantly until thickened (about 3 minutes).

Remove from heat and stir in butter and vanilla. Let cool for 10 minutes.

Layer the Pudding

Spread ½ cup pudding in a 2-quart dish.

Layer one-third of the banana slices, half the cookies, and a heaping cup of pudding.

Repeat layers, ending with pudding on top.

Chill

Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 6 hours or overnight.

Top & Serve

Whip the remaining 1 cup cream with 2 tbsp sugar until stiff peaks form. Spread over the pudding and top with crushed cookies.
