A 2001-ben Arthur Hills ünnepelt golfpályatervező által megálmodott Oitavos Dunes (18 lyuk, Par 71. A fekete férfi elütőtől a pálya hossza 6372 méter), ma a világ 55. legjobb golf létesítménye a Golf Magazine 2017 - es Top 100 listája alapján, s Portugáliában az No. 1. Ezen a pályán rendezik 2021-ig a GolfSixes versenyeket. Úgy alakították ki a pálya nyomvonalát, hogy megőrizzék a dűnék eko-szisztémáját, s ennek is köszönheti a klub, hogy Európában elsőként, s a világon pedig másodikként elnyerte az Audubon International által adományozott Gold Signature Sanctuary státuszt. A 18 szakasz végig elképesztően gyönyörű panorámát biztosit az Atlanti-óceánra és Sintra hegyeire. Az Oitavos Dunes golfpálya Platinum Club® of the World státuszt is kapott 2015-ben, amely azt jelenti, hogy a világ egyik legkiválóbb privát golfklubja. A Golf Digest magazin riportere nemrégiben ezt írta: „Fantasztikus golfélmény.” A Golf Monthly magazin szerkesztője így fogalmazott a pályáról: „Az egyik legszebb vonalvezetésű pálya, amit valaha is láttam, s a leglátványosabb… Kötelező egyszer itt játszani!" A Golf World magazin ezt nyomtatta ki a pályával kapcsolatban: „Briliáns golf tapasztalatot lehet itt szerezni” Paul McGinley, aki három alkalommal is tagja volt Ryder Kupa-győztes válogatottnak, így nyilatkozott: „Nagy lehetőség van ebben a pályában, hogy Európa első számú golfklubja legyen.” Amikor 2009-ben az Oitavos Dunes elnyerte a 88. helyet a Top 100as listán, kevesen hitték, hogy van még hely a tovább lépésre. De a tulajdonos másként gondolta, s tett is érte, aminek az lett az eredménye, hogy 2011-ben már a 68.-ként jegyezték a pályát. 15 változtatás történt a szakaszokon, a 7. és a 9. elütő helyet megújították, a 10. lyukon áthelyezték a homokcsapdát, s még sorolhatnánk tovább a módosításokat. A fejlesztés persze nem állt meg, s a folyamatos munka meghozta az eredményt ismét, 2013-ban a 65. helyet, 2015ben az 58. helyet és 2017-ben az 55. helyet. Designed in 2001 by the renowned golf course architect, Arthur Hills, the Oitavos Dunes is considered one of the best golf courses at the moment (18 holes, Par 71. Men – Black Tees – distance 6 372 meters.) Positioned in 55th place in the prestigious Top 100 by Golf Magazine 2017, it ranks number one in Portugal. Hosting the GolfSixes tournament until 2021. The planning of the golf course involved the preservation of the delicate ecosystem of the dunes on which it sits. The Oitavos Dunes is the first golf course in Europe and second in the world to get the Gold Signature Sanctuary status. All 18 holes of this field offer stunning views over the Atlantic Ocean and of Sintra. Oitavos Dunes achieved Platinum Club® of the World status in 2015. This award establishes Oitavos Dunes as one of the finest private golf courses in the world. The opinion of the Golf Digest:“A fantastic golfing experience.” Golf World printed out: “The layout is a brilliant test of golf” It is true. Paul McGinley, three-time Member of Winning Ryder Cup Team said: “This has the potential to be the best course in Europe”. When Oitavos Dunes was recognized in 2009 as # 88 in GOLF Magazine’s TOP 100 Courses in the World few could have imagined that the course had room for improvement. This was not the view of the owner, and his course was moving up the list of the greatest courses in the World. On September 2011 Oitavos Dunes jumped 20 places up the list to be considered the 68th best course in the world and the second best in mainland Europe. The recognition was a result of 15 minor changes to the course, including new tees on holes 7 and 9, and the placement of sand dunes in strategic holes such as the 10th. The continuous improvements resulted in successive recognition from the respectful rating noted in 2013 with 65th place in the ranking, and 58th place in 2015. More recently Oitavos Dunes has been recognized as the 55th best golf course in the world.
