Alfama az egyik legkarakterisztikusabb városrésze a portugál fővárosnak, Lisszabonnak. A tipikus Fado-étterem, a Taverna d’El Rey autentikus helyszín, amely kiváló helyi ételspecialitásokat kínál. Egykor szén-, illetve borkereskedők otthona volt a mai taverna épülete, ezt alakították át fokozatosan Fado-házzá. Az étterem az Alfama negyed bejáratánál helyezkedik el. A Taverna d’EL Rey tulaj donosa Maria Jô-Jô ismert Fado-énekes, s ennél fogva történelmi, szimbolikus jelentősége van a helynek. A Fado speciális portugál zenei műfaj. Kocsmákban, kávéházakban és éttermekben énekeltek a múltban és adnak műsort napjainkban is az énekesek. Az 1820-as évekre nyúlik vissza a Fado kialakulása, bár sokan állítják, hogy ennél is régebbről datálódik az eredete. A Fado nagyon kifejező és mélységesen melankólikus. Az énekesek a napi élet nehézségeiről dalolnak, a lemondás és a reménytelenség érzéséről. A Fado életérzése a portugál saudade szóval jellemezhető igazán, amely egyszerre jelent vágyakozást, nosztalgiát, szomorúságot, fájdalmat, de egyben a szerelem és a boldogság lehetőségét is. A Fado énekeseket általában egy vagy két 12 húros portugál gitárral, illetve egy vagy két spanyol gitárral kísérik. A Jet Set magazin stábja 2020. augusztus végén járt a Taverna d’El Rey Fado-étteremben. Az ételek, amit a Taverna d’El Rey pincérei az asztalunkra tettek igazán finomak voltak, főképp az a tenger gyümölcsei rizs, amely akkora tálban érkezett, hogy alig bírtuk elfogyasztani ketten. A főételhez vörös boros szangriját ittunk, ez nagyon népszerű Portugáliában, s nem túl erős szeszesital. Természetesen az est fénypontja a Fado volt. Három alkalommal szólt a zene és az ének, 15-15 perces előadásokat élvezhettünk, s érdekesség, hogy valamennyi fellépő az éttermet üzemeltető család tagja volt. Az énekeseket, akik olyan nagyszerű produkciókat adtak elő, hogy a vendégek hangos ujjongással ünnepelték őket egy-egy ének után, portugál, illetve spanyol gitáron kísérték. Meglepetésre a melankólikus, lassú számok mellett akadt egy gyors ritmusú, vidámabb dal is, amit az énekesnő pörögve végig táncolt, nagy megelégedésünkre. A Taverna d’El Rey étterem szép belső dekorációval rendelkezik, kellemes hely, s fontos tudni, hogy közel van az alfamai Fado Múzeumhoz. Ha valaki mélyebben érdeklődik a Fado iránt, akkor érdemes ellátogatnia a múzeumba a vacsora show előtt. Hasznos információ az is, hogy a Taverna d’EL Rey árszintje vállalható, olcsóbb, mint más Fado éttermek Lisszabonban. ■

Located in Alfama, one of the most caracteristic quarters of Lisbon, capital of Portugal. The typical restaurant Taverna d’El Rey offers a genuine atmosphere of the ancient city, Fado and the best spe cialities of the local Portuguise food. It is open from 6 pm to 2 am. Once home to coal and wine merchants, over time this establishment was gradually converted into a Fado house. Today, located at one of the main points of entry into the Alfama quarter, the restaurant belongs to the Fado singer Maria Jô-Jô and is recognised as a place of historic and symbolic importance. Fado music is a form of Portuguese singing that is often associated with pubs, cafés, and restaurants. This music genre officially originated in Portugal around the 1820s, though it is thought to have much earlier origins. Fado is known for how expressive and profoundly melancholic it is. In Fado music, the musician will sing about the hard realities of daily life, balancing both resignation and hopefulness that a resolution to its torments can still occur. It can be described by using the Portuguese word “saudade,” which means “longing” and stands for a feeling of loss. This loss is generally permanent and of long-term consequence. Fado music often has one or two 12 string guitars, one or two violas. Jet Set magazine staff visited Taverna d’El Rey Fado restaurant at 2020 end of August. Because of the corona virus pandemic Lisbon was very quiet, there were not so many tourists, so the restaurant was not full, just 12 people sat at 4 tables. The food what they served in the taverna was very nice, the best was the seafood rice and the portion was so big, that we could not eat all. We drank red sangrija because it is popular in the country and good choice, not too strong. Of course the highlight of the evening was the Fado. We enjoyed three different Fado singers all from the same family and two musicians, one with Piortuguise and one with Spanish guitar. The programme lasted three times 15 minutes and the singers were so good that the guests loudly cheered after every song. It was a big surprise that one song was not melancholic, but happy, the singer was dancing with quick steps, we all loved this performance. The Taverna d’El Rey is decorated beautifully and it is close to the Fado museum of Alfama, so if you are interested more about Fado, you can visit the museum before the dinner show. Good to know, the prices are reasonable in the Taverna d’El Rey, cheaper then other famous Fado houses. ■
