POETRY CORNER Our cheeky visitor We love to watch the birds we see when looking out our window, From parakeets to blue tits and the sparrows down below. We always fill the feeders, we never let them down, However there’s a downside and it kind of makes us frown. We also have a visitor who likes to climb and steal He knows when I am watching, his behaviour makes me reel! He climbs on all the feeders, until he makes them break, Eating all the bird food, destruction in his wake. Although he looks angelic with his great big fluffy tail, We all know that he’s naughty as the pergola he scales. He taunts us from the top of it, I think he likes the game. Such a frequent visitor we’ve given him a name. Cyril is the naughty scamp a squirrel is his kind, It’s sort of nice to see his face as we peer through the blind. We always love to see him there as we look out the door, As seeing any wildlife, leaves us wanting more. So feed the birds and squirrels and hedgehogs that you see, And plant your summer flowers for those lovely bumblebees. So although that cheeky squirrel, likes to steal the food, When we see his furry face it always lifts our mood!
