In this one-year full-time programme in Computer Networks with Software, you will learn about the latest operating systems, computer hardware, software development and networking technologies, coupled with hands on practical experience. In addition, you will gain a strong foundation in cyber security. Students will also have the opportunity to work with staff from the Department of Computer and Software Engineering at Technological University of the Shannon (TUS) , to design and build programmable robots, which can be controlled using mobile apps. This LOETB-TUS collaboration promotes problem-based learning while enabling the students to experience the creativity and innovation of a rapidly evolving sector. What will I study? • Computer Systems Hardware • Networking Essentials • Operating Systems • ICT Security Policy and Management • (Cyber Security) • Mathematics • Programming and Design Principles • Personal Effectiveness • Work Experience • Mathematics for Information Technology Progression Options Links to 3rd Level: On successful completion of this programme, students can apply to TUS (Technological University of the Shannon) for entry to the ICT Engineering Degree; common entry year 1 to: BSC in Network management, BEng in Computer Engineering, and BEng in Electronic Communications. Students can also apply to other 3rd Level Institutions under the Higher Education Links Scheme or as a mature Student.
Entry Requirements Leaving Certificate or QQI Level 4, or equivalent standard of education. All applicants are subject to an interview and an online assessment.
