We provide English classes to speakers of other languages. Assessment is carried out prior to placement to ensure learners are offered a suitable class.

Introduction to Science QQI

Level 4

The purpose of this award is to equip the learner with the knowledge, skill and competence to explain and apply a range of biology concepts and principles in a supervised environment and apply them to everyday life, to develop some understanding of real life science.

Everyday Science: This module aims to equip the learner with the knowledge, skills and competencies to understand and apply a range of scientific s iklls and principles related to everyday science It is designed to develop practical and thinking skills useful in everyday life.

Biology: This module aims to give the learner an understanding of a range of scientific skills and principles related to biology including: Distinguish between living and non living organisms, explain the characteristics of living things, describe using diagrams the structure and functi on of plant and animal cells, outline the relationship between cells, tissues, organs and systems, illustrate the structure of the breathing system in humans.

Introduction to Engineering

QQI Level 4

QQI Level 4 (4M2010)

The purpose of this award is to provide the learner with the opportunity to develop the relevant knowledge, skill and competence in a broad range of engineering skills which will facilitate employment, under direct supervision, in a variety of engineering sectors, or progression to further education or training.

Technical Drawing: This module aims to equip provide the learner with the knowledge, skill and competence to draw objects in two and three dimensions to scale, interpret and monitor key elements of technical drawing and procedure technical drawings under supersvision.

Electronics: This module aims to equip the learner with the knowledge, skill and competence to interpret, construct and evaluate basic electronic circuits.

This module helps you explore your strengths and interests, create a CV, prepare for interviews, and discover career options. You'll build the skills and confidence to plan your future and take the next steps in your career journey.

Mathematic Level 4

This module helps learners build practical maths skills for everyday life, even with limited prior understanding. It covers key areas including number, algebra, geometry, and data handling, with a focus on applying mathematical concepts in real-world situations.

Teamworking

This module will help you build the skills and confidence to work well with others and be a strong team member You’ll learn how teams work, how to solve problems together, and take part in a team project to put your skills into practice.

This course introduces students to Word Processing, Data Entry, File Management, Computer Graphics, Spreadsheets, Databases.

Word Processing - To enable the learner to create documents in a word processing application, save the document, close, retrieve, make changes and save again.

- To create an awareness of I T concepts and technology and the impact of Information Technology on everyday life. To facilitate the learner to organise their files, folders and computer workspace and develop the skills to use the Internet and email and data entry

This course has been designed to teach the basic computer skills in Computer Applications and Excel, required by most employers.

Computer Applications: To develop an understanding of the uses of database, Spreadsheet and graphics software and the terminology and language appropriate to each.

On successful completion of this programme, students may progress to the QQI Level 6 Advanced Certificate in Business Management The QQI Level 5 award facilitates entry, on a competitive basis, to a Higher Certificate in Business Studies in Athlone Institute of Technology (AIT). Students can also apply to other 3rd Level institutions under the Higher Education Links Scheme, or as a mature student The programme will enhance opportunities in securing an apprenticeship in Financial Services, Accounting Technician, or Insurance Practitioner.

Career Options:

Holders of a QQI Level 5 Business Studies Certificate may seek employment in a clerical capacity in a wide range of business sectors including banking, insurance, solicitors, H.S.E. and local authorities etc.

Healthcare Support

QQI Level 5 Course Code: 5M4339

To respond to the growing demand in our community for skilled care workers, this course will facilitate learners to acquire the knowledge and skills necessary for a career in this area of work. This qualification enables graduates to work in the H.S.E., Nursing Homes, Day Care Centres, and Residential Homes or as an Agency Care worker within the community.

This module aims to equip the learner with the knowledge, skills to use a word processing application to produce documents in a variety of contexts.

Learners will complete the following: text manipulation, document formatting, graphics, tabs, tables, mail merge and label printing.
