Jenckes Store Museum located at 283 Main Street (rt. 16) in Douglas. The non-profit organization will elect officers and review the past year’s accomplishments. A fresh coat of paint was applied to the museum’s buildings by Wise Painting with funds obtained through the American rescue Plan Act (ArPA) and the efforts of Senator ryan Fattman and representative Joseph McKenna. In addition, the iconic two story porch was recently repaired with

new framing and decking on a portion of the floors completed by the carpenters at S Z restoration Carpentry, Inc. Those efforts were accomplished with funds from two generous grants by the Captain Job Knapp Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American revolution and from the support of the UniBank Charitable Foundation. All members plan to attend and new members and friends are always welcome. refreshments will be available. The Museum is on the National register of Historic Places and is supported by memberships and donations.

The Uxbridge Senior Center is organizing our annual Thanksgiving lunch distribution to over 200 seniors and homebound. We are looking for assistance from volunteers to make this project a success. The amount of organization and preparation is surmountable, but with many hands, the work is attainable and rewarding. This project will take place on Monday, November 20th at the Uxbridge Senior Center located at 36 S. Main Street. Volunteers can help by donating small cans of cranberry sauce, gravy, or monetary donations to the center are welcome. Others may help by volunteering their time to help package or deliver the meals. In addition, the center is accepting names of residents that would like a lunch, call the center and indicate if you would like the meal delivered or if would like to pick it up. If you can help in anyway, reach out to the Uxbridge Senior Center by November 10th, contact Lisa Bernard, Director, at 508-278-8622.
