Uxbridge Lions Shredding and Beautifying Going Steady
The Uxbridge Lions Club Biannual Shred Event and The Uxbridge Lions Beautify Uxbridge Project are two ways the club commits to serving the community. First, by providing a convenient secure service while recycling tons of shredded materials and by making Uxbridge’s downtown and surrounding areas, well, beautiful.
The Shred Event will be held Saturday, November 4th, from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the VFW Parking Lot at route 16 and Cross road in Uxbridge, rain or shine. According to experts, almost all documents should be shredded. The list is some forty items long. For a donation of $5.00 for a copy paper sized box, Pellegrino Trucking will shred and send paper products for recycling. For the same donation, OnSite Computers will handle the secure desctruction of electronic devices including phones, electric cords, cameras, USB cables, flat screen monitors, keyboards, radio and stereos.

On November 4, drivers need only follow the signs and guidance of Lions members. No need to even get out of the car unless the driver wants to watch the shredding in progress.
The Lions Club Beautify Uxbridge Project carries on with the efforts begun years ago by the late Marie Potter and friends to make downtown
Uxbridge prettier. In recent years, the Uxbridge Lions, with the help of a dozen local volunteers, keep up the work all four seasons.
With discounts from Koopman for plants and flowers, funds raised at the spring Pansy Sale, and a donation from Harry’s Pizza, the project flourishes. Donations for the Lions Club Beautify Uxbridge Project may be sent to: The Uxbridge Lions Club, P.O. Box 455, N. Uxbridge, MA 01538. Fundraisers enable the club to support many community activities like scholarships, youth sports, individuals needing assistance with sight or hearing & more.
The Lions meet the third Wednesday of each month at 6:15 p.m. at the Uxbridge Senior Center. New members are always welcome to join the largest service organization in the world whose motto is “We Serve.” Contact Cathy Thornton at catherinethornton941@ gmail.com for information.
