U.H.S. designated as Special Olympics Unified Champion School Superintendent Michael Baldassarre and Principal Michael rubin are pleased to share that Uxbridge High School has been recognized as an official Special Olympics Massachusetts Unified Champion School following the 2022-2023 school year. Special Olympics Massachusetts honored Uxbridge High School's commitment to inclusion and its continuous efforts to provide opportunities and activities for all. The school was honored for embodying what it means to be a Unified Champion School through unified sports, inclusive youth leadership programs and whole-school engagement. This designation showcases Uxbridge High School's dedication to embracing diversity, promoting equity and empowering students to be change advocates. Uxbridge High School offers unified basketball for boys and girls in all high school grade levels. The unified team consists of students with disabilities as well as teammates who are partners to support the team and participate alongside their classmates. "On behalf of the entire district, I would like to thank Special Olympics Massachusetts for this recognition," said Superintendent Baldassarre. "Our schools aim to foster an environment of inclusion where all students have

access to new opportunities." Plans for the 2023-2024 school year include enhancing the school's Unified Basketball and Bocce teams while encouraging more students to participate in Unified Track and Field. As part of this recognition, Special Olympics Massachusetts will provide resources and tools to support Uxbridge's commitment to inclusivity. The toolkit includes important dates, reminders and fun items to assist staff
