Beginning Bridges group works to connect children, youth and families Beginning Bridges CFCE’s vision is that children, youth and families reach

their full potential now and in the future. Their mission is to work with

families and community partners to create the conditions for children, youth and families to thrive socially, academically and economically. Funding for the Coordinated Family & Community Engagement Grant (CFCE) is provided by the Massachusetts Dept. of Early Education and Care (EEC) and sponsored by South Middlesex Opportunity Council (SMOC-Childcare/Head Start) Beginning Bridges CFCE has funding for the towns of Mendon, Northbridge, Upton & Uxbridge. Currently, FrEE comprehensive services include weekly indoor and outdoor parent/child playgroups. Offering parent education programs, the Ages & Stages Developmental Questionnaire and can connect

families to community resources. UPCOMING EVENTS: • Wednesday, 11/1/23 - Coffee and Conversations 9:30-10:30 a.m. at Taft Public Library, 29 North Ave in Mendon. Informal drop-in playtime where families will be able to build social connections, learn about early childhood development & family resources. Please bring your own coffee. Muffins from Muffin House Cafe will be provided. Puppet Storytime will follow at 10:30 a.m. register for both on the Taft Public Library website. • Wednesday, 11/8/23 - Music and Movement with Deb Hudgins, 10:30 to 11:00 a.m. at Whitinsville Social Library, 17 Church Street, Whitinsville.

Milford regional Medical Center is now hosting two, in-person support groups for new parents. Pre-registration is required as space is limited. POSTPARTUM GROUP A free postpartum mental health support group is available for postpartum parents with babies under 12 months of age. The group will meet the second and fourth Tuesday of each month from 10 to 11 a.m. Participants will be required to complete an emergency contact form. The group is facilitated by Sarah Baroud, LICSW – a therapist

and social worker who specializes in perinatal mental health. Each group will include a discussion topic and time for questions and mutual support. PAReNT TALk Milford regional is also hosting a free Parent Talk support group the third Tuesday of each month from 10 to 11 a.m. This discussion group is designed for parents of infants, age newborn to eight months. The forum provides mothers and fathers an opportunity to meet and connect with fellow parents, discuss concerns with caring for a new-

born, and share parenting ideas. The group is facilitated by Laura Laird, BCCE, Milford regional’s childbirth education instructor. Topics to be discussed could range from sleep schedules, allergies, breast and bottle feeding, introducing new foods, or knowing when to call the pediatrician, to name a few.
