Scroungers Mid-Season Wrap
T
he Scroungers season commenced in mid May. Since then, we have only had one washout due to bad weather and on the whole we have enjoyed sunny days with the odd windy one blowing in. The season started off with Ronny Rogers defeating Shona Carter and since then we have had different winners on each occasion. They were, in order of play, Peter Flack, Al (Dreads) Walton, Mark Douglass, Denis Croker and Paul Knight. The other runners up from Round 2 onwards in order being Ron Rogers, Paul Knight, Kevin Coffey and Jan Paniperis. Players have enjoyed many highlights from wrong bias to out of bounds bowls and jacks but I think the highlight of the season thus far would definitely go to Helen Teasdale with six jacks in a row going into the ditch. Even when she put the mat back on the tee, the jack still kept on travelling into the ditch, much to everyone’s enjoyment at her misfortune. Another highlight of Scroungers has been the sausage sizzle, drinks and conversation after the games. Since the start we have had two ladies make the finals, Shona Carter and Jan Paniperis, so come on girls, lift your game and get some brag-
