Clubs WA Ceases Club of the Year Awards
tell people that they made three good decisions 18 years ago. One was to come to Australia, two was to come to Perth and the other was to join the Sorrento Bowling Club. Neville went on to thank Denise, Brian Lucas, Jim Woodward, Jan Paniperis, Denis Croker and all the other contributors to our Club magazine, our booklets and our various leaflets.

Clubs WA Ceases Club of the Year Awards
The recent announcement by Clubs WA that their “Club of the Year” award will not be featured in future awards for excellence means that Sorrento becomes the last club to have won this prestigious award.
Interestingly, Sorrento will have won the award every year since 2015 except for 2019. This was the year that we became the first club (and now only club) to be inducted into Club WA’s Hall of Fame for Medium Club of the Year, and therefore we were not eligible to apply for the award in 2019. An impressive performance by anyone’s standard. – Brian Lucas
Tribute to Kevin Scammel (1930-2022)
Kevin and his golfing friend Kevin Cook joined the Sorrento Bowling Club in 2008 seeking a change of sporting challenges. I was fortunate to meet them at that time and we soon became good friends. Kevin commenced playing in our social bowling afternoons where he was regarded as a tough competitor and a great guy to play with or against.
