Clubs WA Ceases Club of the Year Awards

Clubs WA Ceases Club of the Year Awards

The recent announcement by Clubs WA that their “Club of the Year” award will not be featured in future awards for excellence means that Sorrento becomes the last club to have won this prestigious award.

Interestingly, Sorrento will have won the award every year since 2015 except for 2019. This was the year that we became the first club (and now only club) to be inducted into Club WA’s Hall of Fame for Medium Club of the Year, and therefore we were not eligible to apply for the award in 2019. Tribute to Kevin Scammel (1930-2022)

Kevin and his golfing friend Kevin Cook joined the Sorrento Bowling Club in 2008 seeking a change of sporting challenges. I was fortunate to meet them at that time and we soon became good friends. Kevin commenced playing in our social bowling afternoons where he was regarded as a tough competitor and a great guy to play with or against.
