few hours. However, nationals is a two-day event where the stakes are much higher. The scores are averaged together from performances on Saturday and Sunday. "We were up against a team that we had beat in the past so they were coming back with a vengeance said Haleen Parrish, mother of cheerleader Melody Parrish. "They redid their whole routine so our girls were feeling the pressure." After the performances Sunday, the temptation was to leave before the
results were posted due to the long trek back to Howe late in the night, however, they stayed to see the results just to have "the moment" if they were to win. As it turns out, "the moment" arrived late in the evening. The cheerleaders received white sweaters, trophies, and plaques for their accomplishments. The next goal for the performers is to attend the Fun Cheer Spirit Splash in South Padre Island in May.
