Sales tax down across Texas

Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar announced Thusday that he will send cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose taxing districts $629.2 million in local sales tax allocations for September, 1.4 percent less than in September 2015. These allocations are based on sales made in July by businesses that report tax monthly. Howe and all surrounding cities were down in the sales tax revenue department. Howe totalled $25,110.01 which is down from the $29,877.81 from the previous month.

Ethan Sanders scores for Howe's eighth grade. Howe Middle School football kicked off their season at Muenster on Thursday afternoon. The seventh grade Bulldogs lost 14-0 in a hard fought contest. The eight grade beat the Hornets, 32-14 with scores from Jordan Jones, Clay Barnett, Ethan Sanders and Noah Campbell.
The Howe JV also beat Muenster on a thrilling come-from-behind 14-13 win that saw Howe get a safety on the last play of the game to escape the German community with a win. Touchdowns by Howe were scored by Devin Porter and Spencer Akins.
Lady Bulldogs volleyball The Howe Lady Bulldogs were defeated by Denton Braswell at home on Tuesday night in a three-game set. The scores were 14-25 1525, 15-25.
