Howe's 30th Annual Founders Day information The Howe Area Chamber of Commerce's goal is for the 30th Annual Founders Day to be the biggest celebration in many years. They are off to a good start as far as entertainment and vendors are concerned. The no-charge vendor fee has seen a slew of businesses wanting to display their trade in Downtown Howe on May 7 from 2pm - 8pm. So far, the list of vendors includes: Chill Out Shaved Ice, Krazee J's Kettle Corn, Threads by Tammie Lugo, FBC Howe (bounce house), It Works Global, Deb's Unique (face-painting), Westbrook Sports Solutions (woodworking), Mel's Food Truck (fries, hot dogs, canammon bites, sliders, peanuts, sodas), Thirty-One Hand Bags, Younique by Laura, Premier Designs Jewelry, Usborne Books and More, Jamberry Independent Consultant, Fierce Motions, Keep Howe Beautiful, Kyani Health, FUMC (bubble machine and bounce obstacle course), Oragami Owl Jewlry, Jim Gray signs and rustic furniture, Arbonne, Vantel Pearls, Vincent Realty Group. Entertainment will be provided by the City Lights Band from 3pm -

Dickey, Bearden and Simmons leading in Hall of Honor voting
5pm. Fierce Motions Dance Studio in Van Alstyne will perform for thirty minutes in the street starting at 5pm. Then a musician who played in the very first Founders Day in Howe, Duane Peters & Simply Blessed will perform a two-hour show starting at 6 pm. The popular lawn mower race will make its second appearance in a row and rumor has it Mayor Jeff Stanley has been working on a lawnmower that is sure to win in 2016.

The 2016 Howe Hall of Honor nominees were released last week and voting began on Tuesday. The nominees were selected by the community and nine were submitted which included Jimmy Bearden, J.J. Starting Monday, there will be a ballot box at the Howe Post Office. Voting will end on March 15 and the three selections will be announced at the March 24 Members Dinner. In the lead after the first week of online voting are Dickey 132, Bearden 74, and Simmons 69, Chisum 50, Norman 45, Thompson 21, Hestand 19, Holcomb Sr., 12, Lamb 11.
The chamber will also hold a "Touch a Truck" event which will consists of large trucks such as tractors, combines, fire trucks, semi-trucks and others that kids can climb in and have their pictures taken in. The entry fee for this event will go to repair the parks in Howe.
