Bulldogs win Bells track meet

That’s you abiding in Him and Him in you The harvest of that relationship is sure to be abundant Separated from Him, you can’t produce a thing of value to the Kingdom of God Anyone who separates from Jesus is like deadwood, gathered up and thrown on the bonfire But if you make yourselves at home with God’s word and allow His words to change you, you can be sure that you will show yourself to be His child and produce good fruit

“I am the vine, you are the branches. If you truly abide in Me, and I in you, you will bear much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing,”

John 15:5

When we first moved into our 96year-old home there was a pear tree that was about 2 feet in diameter and 35 feet tall It was so old and dead looking that we almost cut it down until it bloomed and produced the most pears we had ever seen on one tree! The value of a fruit tree is not measured by its age or height but the amount and quality of its fruit The same is true for Christians The Bible often uses the metaphor of fruit to describe what our lives produce Fruit can be either good or bad as stated in Matthew 7:8 and Luke 6:43 A fruitful Christian will produce better results: “The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life,” Proverbs 11:30

When you ask Jesus to be Lord of your life, He came to live and make a difference in you, through Him

Fruit is a metaphor for God showing who He is through the changes in your actions as you mature as His disciples. The motives of your heart need to be continually renewed and transformed in to the heart of God Your thinking will be more Christ like as your heart changes to want what God wants This can only be done by abiding in God’s word Spend time reading, studying, and prayerfully meditating on the teachings of Jesus and allow your heart to change your actions will follow As you step out in faith and believe the promises that Christ has given and obey His commands, you will begin to bear much fruit in your life and influence those that you spend time with to bear much fruit in their life

“You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit fruit that will last,”

John 15:16

I have a set of dinnerware marked “Royal Winton Grimwades, Made in England ” It is a sweet pattern with a green background and applied rosebuds for handles I have 8 of the following: dinner and breakfast plates, saucers, cups, plus a creamer/sugar, 2 serving bowls, teapot on a plate, and salt and pepper Can you tell me about these pieces and an approximate value?

Leonard Grimwade and his brother founded a pottery in 1885 at the Winton pottery, Stoke-on-Trent

By 1906 they were noted for producing quality teasets A Philadelphia retailer was given exclusive rights to sell Grimwades wares in three patterns sometime in 1933 Summertime, Somerset, and Floral Feast The Crockery & Glass Journal printed at the time, “ the three designs are on a lovely clean-bodied Royal Winton Ivory with a quaintly square open sugar and creamer on a tray that will retail for about $1 50 and a fat and inviting tea pot and large sandwich plate to retail for about $1 95 ” The Rosebud pattern, while not classified strictly as a Chintz pattern, was introduced by Grimwades in the 1940s

Numerous other chintz patterns were introduced over the years with fifteen patterns being introduced between 1952-53 Demand gradually fell and by 1964 when Howard Potteries acquired Grimwades, chintz was no longer important to the company Chintz is a rare commodity and highly sought after now Expect to pay high prices for any chintz patterened pieces, up into the hundreds of dollars for teapots, covered serving pieces, and teasets

We have a small number of chintz pieces at Howe Mercantile, although they are very difficult to come by Come see our many tea cups and saucers in other floral patterns It is fun to collect all different patterns and set your tea table with a variety of florals As a friend of mine says, “nothing matchy-matchy” on our tables anymore We also have several sets of dinnerware patterns in stock, including a floral called Mauvette in the Craftsman Georgian shape by Homer Laughlin There are twelve 5-piece placesettings with accompanying gravy boat, creamer and sugar, vegie bowls platters, and other serving pieces They are a gorgeous floral pattern on an ivory background and were produced in 1940 Replacements Ltd has one 5-piece placesetting listed for $95, and serving pieces from $60 to $150 Howe Mercantile has the entire set for $399 00

Dr Georgia Caraway, former director of the Denton County Museums for 14 years, and her friends opened the Howe Mercantile at 107 East Haning Store hours are Thursday through Saturday noon until 8 p m She has written four Denton history books and has finished a 5th history about the North Texas State Fair and Rodeo that will be published in August She hopes her next book will be the history of Howe PLEASE SHOP LOCALLY We can show you Howe!
