Keep Ho e Bea tif l preps town for spring

The Keep Howe Beautiful organization picked up trash along Collins Freeway Saturday in front of Sonic in preparation for the soon to be passerbys stopping to take pictures in Howe's famous bluebonnet patches along US Highway 75

As well as picking up trash, they planted daffodils all around the downtown area and have made a flower garden in the free parking area in the 1930s which landed Howe as the "Prettiest Little Town in Texas" and made news of it in the Readers Digest and Life Magazine as well as the Dallas Morning News

Howe powerlifters traveled to Chico last week and came away with a second, third and sixth finish.

Howe's state qualifier Triston Matthews placed second in the 220 weight class with total weights equaling 1355 pounds

Andrew Griffin placed third in the 181 pound division with 1210 pounds total

Jacob Taylor finished sixth in the 220 pound division with a total of 1250 pounds lifted

Tanner Hartsfield was listed as disqualified lifts

Howe has a long history when it comes to beautification projects One of the most famous people in that area called Howe home Miss Mame Roberts traveled all over the State of Texas giving speeches and demonstrations on how to beautify a community after she led an effort

Someone this weekend thought it was a great idea to throw their old mattresses on the grounds of the Howe Youth Baseball fields by the dumpster Anyone with information regarding the violaters are asked to contact the Howe Police Department
